but of course that would be 12 months from getting the receipt. maximum! perhaps it is shorter in practice. let's check the web site of the grenoble préfecture to see. my case is "décrets" (the other is mostly for nationality through marriage)

you would think, starting this process, that it would finish in, you know, 12 months. it is what the law says... or seems to say

paragraph 5 of article 21-25-1 of the civil code: 18 months, if the request is complete, or 12 months if the person has been in france 10 years. a receipt shall be immediately delivered

well. after implementing weak maps and refs, wastrel compilation of the hoot repl seems to work. some trimming needed to make backtraces not show frames that are part of the implementation, and polish as always, but i gasped audibly when it first gave me a prompt!
