Ačkoli byl film v nacistickém Německu nepřekvapivě zakázán, Hitler (dříve velký příznivce Chaplinových grotesek) si ho údajně nechal pustit v soukromí, načež dostal záchvat vzteku. Charlie Chaplin to pokládal za vůbec největší úspěch svého snímku Diktátor, který měl premiéru 15. října 1940.

Za nacistické okupace opustil zemi, aby jí mohl pomáhat jinde – Antonín Macenauer se narodil 15. 10. 1914, sloužil u Cizinecké legie a v řadách Královského letectva jako pilot a navigátor u 311. a 312. československé stíhací peruti. Pádu komunistů, kteří ho odměnili propuštěním z armády, se nedožil.

Bojoval pod Františkem Fajtlem a sdílel s ním i jeho další osudy. Stanislav Hlučka se jako pilot účastnil bojů na západní i východní frontě a byl za svou odvahu odměněn řadou vyznamenání a komunistickým vězením a degradací. Dožil se svobody a povýšení na generálmajora a zemřel 15. 10. 2008.

Většina výsadku Glucinium, operujícího na našem území od července 1944, válku přes smůlu je provázející přežila. Včetně radiotelegrafisty skupiny Františka Trpíka, narozeného 11. 10. 1914. Ani přes zajetí, předání gestapu a měsíce výslechů nic neprozradil a dočkal se i pádu druhé totality u nás.

Proti zlu třeba železem. Šli proti jejich zbraním kladivy a odhodláním. 7. 10. 1944 se příslušníci židovského Sonderkommanda v Osvětimi vzbouřili a třebaže je všechny nakonec zabili, podařilo se jim vyhodit do povětří budovu Krematoria IV, zlikvidovat několik nepřátel a zpomalit vražednou mašinerii.
