👏 for @jchavezmpls.bsky.social regarding the 'options' that Waymo offers: "Options? Let's have a 24/7 bus lane on Hennepin, build bus lanes. Let's get more bike lanes, more traffic calming. It doesn't feel fair to talk about options when those same options are being vetoed, rejected, voted down."

I just signed up to help, anyone else ready for fun this weekend? Keeping this joyful ride safe is a delight and worthwhile to see young folks enjoying the independence of their bikes together!

💚 612! Thanks @metrotransitmn.bsky.social, I can hardly wait to explore the southwest of the city by bringing my 🚲 aboard.

I want one so bad, owning a Surly single-speed would definitely fix me. If anyone finds it not sold out in 53cm, dibs.

It’s an N+1 New Bike Day - loving the convenience of folding up a bike to carry onto transit. The ease & possibilities are huge and enabling.

A more frequent 38 would make airport runs so radically easy/fast from Uptown (via Blue Line at 46th).

With Minneapolis and St Paul facing huge budget shortfalls, it would make a lot of sense to ramp up speed and red light camera enforcement to fill some of that gap. Improve safety and avoid some budget cuts in one go.

Very worthy read from @yeswaydrjose.bsky.social: “A cap leaves the highway, its emissions, its noise and its political permanence in place. These projects risk becoming what I call memorialized injustice: structures that acknowledge the wound while preserving the instrument that made it.”

Soren, thank you so much for leading this through committee and supporting it during the meeting today. Ward 10 sends our deep appreciation.

When “Vibrant Lyndale” folks plead for an answer to ‘how anyone can move around without a car on Lyndale’, I wonder if they’ve considered reading my sign… or any of the signs. If their minds could open, we have so many answers.

Activating streets is always exciting but - it's disappointing that the quantity of events has decreased while also moving later in the year. Letting the excitement of Spring pass without city events is such a missed opportunity. These closures to cars should happen year-round.

Must-read coverage of police overspending. MPD already gets one-third of our general fund; overspending beyond that is unacceptable. I am glad to see city leaders united in concern about these overages and will do my part to ensure an accountable budget. www.startribune.com/minneapolis-...

Minneapolis police overtime is dragging down the entire city budget
The city’s rainy day fund is drying up as it spends more and collects less money.

Next up, Hennepin County Government Center and the fine folks of Minneapolis Fire Station #1, downtown. Great views and fun comparing 40 PSI fire hose spray you can try at the station versus the 175 PSI capability of the pumper trucks.

It’s a Doors Open Minneapolis 🧵! Highpoint Center for Printmaking on Lake was awesome, and Heart of the Beast on Hennepin featured impressive puppets, costumes and masks including many spotted in the Mayday Parade - definitely visit these two.

When the design for the music venue at the Upper Harbor Terminal retained the heavyweight industrial structures, we gained a great outdoor space and potentially a tremendous new canvas for paint expression…

I've loved this week in Ciudad de México - perfect weather and Metrobús made it so easy to get around. Protected ciclovias show how wildly popular the ecobici bike share program is too. Tomorrow though, I'm excited to experience a car-free Paseo de la Reforma for those who walk, roll, and ride!

I certainly share questions about the effectiveness of a shared use path on that part of Lyndale given high ped/bike demand. (Note that I’m not involved directly with the Lyndale Ave project & I only recently saw the latest proposal)
