Over the last year, I’ve started and halted three different novels and two novellas. The stories are solid and worth telling, I’m confident about that, but each one has some issue that I can’t get past. Often, it’s an issue I can’t even recognize.

Rough, and I mean ROUGH, draft complete! 💪 Now I'm going to put it down for a minute and do about a thousand critiques I've been neglecting.

This week, I was feeling artsy while sharpening knives: "Silent bubbles rise from soaking stones sat upright in a pitcher of warm water. Two tones of grey, white, and clay are the colors in this rainbow, dull but fine beneath the crystal-clear shimmer."

5:00am - wake up, let the dogs out, and draft on the porch as they dogs scream into the void of the forest. As shocks of autonomic distress strike me, similar in frequency to the compression waves my canine companions, I have to wonder: am I practicing focus or just slowly eroding my sanity? 🤷‍♂️

Hit 40k words and heading into Act III of my new novel. It felt crappy to leave a different work behind, but at some point you have to listen to what you’re telling yourself. This work has been such a blast to write! Looking forward to getting the next 25k words down.

I've been remodeling* for 5 years and only now did I realize you can use a plumbers wrench to open PVC primer and cement cans…. The amount of time I have lost in the manly struggle to open one of these things is unaccountable. *I'm one of the good ones, that's why I can't make a living off it.
