OMG you can still get that poster on Amazon. I used find it strangely comforting as a kid. Not sure why. You’d think it would make one feel terribly insignificant, but that’s not how I reacted to it. Maybe because I loved science fiction and the idea of such a vast universe was inherently thrilling.
An image of National Geographic’s “Unverse: Vast and Expanding” poster, which shows an escalating series of astronomical features from the solar system to the local group of galaxies to the local supercluster of galactic groups the known universe, with an image of the cosmic microwave background radiation at the top. There are explanatory blocks of text at each stage, and each stage’s illustration is connected to the next illustration by a sort of cone that illustrates the relative scale of the features. The whole effect is to transmit quite effectively the scale of the universe relative to, you know, you and me.

An Office of War Information style propaganda poster with a picture of a smiling WWII GI holding a cup of coffee under text that reads “How About a Nice Big Cup of Shut the Fuck Up.” At the bottom is a red banner with white text that reads, “Think before you send that text message.” Superimposed over the image is the title of the post, "Don't Text About the Crimes," and the subtitle, "Learning the hard way that trust begins where encryption ends."

My friend Elaine has earrings patterned off of old San Francisco Muni paper bus transfers I remember from my childhood.
A close up of my friend, Elaine's right ear as she pulls her hair back to expose a large, dangling earring resembling a paper bus transfer ticket that has been torn. The print is orange and black and there is a big orange "SF" visible on it, and below that, an orange heart with the logo of the design shop, New Skool. The design is sandwiched between layers of acrylic.

No way this could have gone wrong. (Also, imagine insider-trading on Drake.)
A block of text:

In late April, Polymarket opened a market on whether Drake would say "Polymarket" on the album, one of many markets it launched related to that album. A single trader, whose account was created shortly before the album dropped and bet only on album-related markets, cashed out $7,800 in bets that he would. Hours before the album release, Drake's team played it for Polymarket employees, who heard the mention of the company and deleted the market out of concern that it presented an insider-trading risk, according to data reviewed by the Journal and a person familiar with the matter.

Polymarket US's chief compliance officer, Andrew Clifford, resigned in April after

sending a lengthy report with an overview of some of the fraud issues to company

executives, according to people familiar with the report. Both Clifford and Polymarket

Here's a strategy that has never gone wrong in the history of business.
A block of text:

At one point, the processor rejected as fraudulent more than 80% of the deposits it was handling, a rate that far exceeded industry standards of roughly 1%. Polymarket employees quickly raised their concerns with Chief Executive Shayne Coplan, according to people familiar with the events.
The compliance team, those people recalled, was floored by Coplan's response: Just keep growing and pay a fine if regulators ever find out.
Current and former employees said Coplan's reaction, which hasn't previously been reported, was characteristic of his plan for Polymarket-growth at all costs.

Canceling the apocalypse until the AI figures out that bagel halves come in even numbers.
An AI-generated image of a futuristic looking toaster of some kind, with some gibberish letting and controls on the front under the suspiciously generic brand “Tech.” On the top of the toaster, three oddly sexualized yet plasticky looking bagel halves sit face-down on metal plates. This implies that somehow the bagels are being toasted, but the mechanism is unclear. Various other items suggestive of breakfast are arranged at the periphery of the image, including some toast slices that maybe came out of the secondary toaster off screen, and a cup of coffee that is maybe being served in a Pyrex beaker.

A heat-map image of the United States labeled, "Your dialect map," with the explanation, "Redder areas talk more like you, bluer areas least." It then says, "You talk most like someone from (in red type) California - about 55% of your answers match a typical resident. Above the map is the label, "MyDialect -- Full." The heat map shows the western United States in red, with the darkest red concentrated on the California coast and then fading toward the rockies. The midwest is blue and the southern US is dark blue. The north east is yellow to light red. Below the map is a color bar that runs from dark blue (least like you) to dark red (most like you), faring through green, yellow and orange on the way. Below the map is a section labeled "Cities most & least like you. Interpolated from the nearest survey responses.

2 Los Angeles, CA (55%)
3) Portland, OR (53%)

A color illustration of a school room, in an early 20th century style. Looks a lot like some person or persons in the WH are taking advantage of this situation to knife her. That’s life in the court of intrigues.

A screaming match in the lobby ensued, with Harp insisting that Trump had personally asked her to attend the court appearance, two sources familiar with the matter told CNN. Denied a seat but determined not to be left behind, Harp jumped into an SUV trunk, according to the two sources and confirmed by a photo obtained by CNN.
The episode, which has not been previously reported, served as an encapsulation of the role Harp has carved out in recent years as a constant and intensely dedicated presence at Trump's side. Her methods have irked senior aides and at times prompted efforts to box her out of the president's inner circle, according to multiple sources who described the dynamic to CNN.

But the most delicious part of the whole thing (derogatory) is that all of this Temu Gordon Liddy skullduggery and ratfucking was for Ebay. Ebay!!!
A screenshot of a block of text that reads:

What elevates this story from tragedy to satire is that this was Ebay! Ebay is not the CIA. Ebay is not even one of the Magnificent Seven technology companies that are arguably systemically important. Ebay is a website for selling secondhand sneakers!
There is no reason to start launching ratfucking shadow ops like you're the G. Gordon Liddy of Willow Glen. The stakes just aren't that high. If Ebay vanishes tomorrow, people will list their old surfboards on Facebook Marketplace and use Checkout.com instead of Paypal. 1

It’s also super important to understand the difference between “a PR problem” and “a business problem with PR consequences,” and to be able to explain the difference to execs who sometimes want a quick fix for a deeper problem. Pr is *downstream* of business problems.
A screenshot of a block of text that reads:

If, as with Ebay, the press is reporting that you have a bar that serves liquor on your corporate campus and that it is contributing to poor employee behavior, while you are under pressure from an activist investor, you do not have a PR problem. Or rather, you have a PR problem, but it is downstream of a business problem. The business problem is that you have a bar on campus and it is contributing to poor employee behavior. The solution is to close the bar and address the employee behavior issues and then use PR to explain the steps you've taken. The PR is last in the chain. There's also the separate problem of the activist investor, but having your house in order is helpful there, too.

If you’re a senior PR person, you absolutely need to know where your red lines are, and you need to have a clear idea of what you’ll do when you’re asked to cross them.
A screenshot of text that reads:

If your CEO asks you, a comms chief, to "take down" a reporter and "do whatever it takes," your actual job is specifically to not do whatever it takes. Your actual job is to ask a bunch of clarifying questions about what, specifically, the CEO means, to draw a clear line between what is acceptable and not, and to propose alternatives that aren't ethically compromised. If necessary, your job is also to resign on principle, both because that's the ethical thing to do and because the reputation risks of following through on the request are extreme. Seven years later, the gruesome consequences are still landing for Ebay and its former executives.
