I am here to report that the Race to Robie Creek is, indeed, no friggin joke. Also happy to say it was fun. Five stars.

Middle aged white guy in shorts, baseball hat, neck scarf, long sleeve t- shirt, and HOT pink compression socks runs slowly on a sandy road. Other runners who look healthier and happier have been cropped from the photo. Just the sole Runner remains as a warning to others. Oh. His shirt reads "Rocky 50". It's a race in Texas. He only wears his Rocky 50 shirt for special occasions.

In the video of Trump talking to the US men's hockey team, when he says "I must tell you, we're going to have to bring the women's team, you do know that" as a joke about how annoying it is to have women around, the most painful part for me, are all the hockey players laughing. Actually laughing.

1. Just reviewed a manuscript for a CJ journal that was, I am 99% certain, AI generated. The writing was grammatically correct yet clunky and awk. IRB state assurance was wedged into the data analysis section. Bold statements "no study has ever done the thing..." yet vague on details.

I saw somewhere that DC has now gone a week without a homicide which, for context, is the 7th time DC has gone 7+ days without a homicide so far this year (longest stretch was 17 days).

Some days are wonderful. Other days make me wonder. Sighted on campus.

The African American History museum is incredible. I highly recommend anyone go see it. It’s a powerful look at the history of a group of people that have a large and often overlooked, and hidden impact on American history.

Treefort Musicfest was outstanding this year! Excellent bands, good food, a frickin' giant lit mammoth, chill crowds, and great people watching. Two high points were seeing Fleeting Confidence (a hot trio), and one of my favs, Lunar Vacation.

Illuminating thread on women's involvement in early prevocational English policing. Yes, a woman served as a Shire Reeve (sheriff).

Attended the rally at the Idaho State House this morning. Great energy, great speakers, and the best signs. Hafta admit, this sign had me feeling a little triggered until @lblogic.bsky.social explained it wasn't referring to me. Phew.

Picture of a handsome middle aged man looks at camera. Behind him, someone in a crowd holds a sign that reads "No King." In the background, the dome of the Idaho State House. The humor is implied bc the man facing the camera is named (wait for it). King.

I am back. Running. Finally recovered to the point of regular, semi-long runs.

Selfie of a middle aged stud. Outside, with the foothills of Boise in the background. Sunlight shines on his smiling face and his ball cap is slightly crooked. This is someone who cares not for fashion. Slight oakey overtone of danger...maybe.

Soon we’ll need you to show up to a public hearing (date/time TBA). In the meantime, here are 4 reasons to protect Medicaid Expansion.

One thing I think people talking about the threat of authoritarian creep have gotten, if not exactly wrong, not quite right either is to frame discussion in terms of various European precedents. Those are relevant to be sure, but we also have an American precedent - namely the South before 1965.
