The Furious (2025) is a martial arts film with excellent fights, solid camera work, and decent characters. The colors are muted, like some scenes have an odd filter. The tone is strange, with serious subjects, then a couple of comedic moments like meleeing each other with bikes, and a brutal ending.

Romeo+Juliet (1996) is something we might dare call a classic, even if I remember my high school teacher burying it before the film. The visuals, soundtrack, and Mercutio are stunning in this presentation of Shakespeare, and it was great seeing it again after so long.

The best part of the movie is the cinematography, shooting without permits to capture this scuzzy, bare New York. Love and a .45 (1994) was a movie I always heard about, but was never interested enough to pull the trigger on. Surprisingly enjoyable, with charming characters,

For movies, we saw what I'd call a bad vampire movie, Habit (1995/7). It’s not-so-secretly about addiction, but manages to mostly bore and confuse audiences. The pacing is whack, the acting is bad, and that ending is unfulfilling.

The whole rollercoaster segment was wonderful, and since the main character is a photographer, we get an almost clever method for flashbacks. I’m not sure the main protagonist works here, but we could take a couple of characters out, tighten up the script, and this could work.

Finally, Killer Image (1992), an action-revenge film that isn't too bad, just a little light on the action in exchange for Michael Ironside (when was someone going to tell me he was Canadian?) having more amazing and funny scenes.

Making Contact, a.k.a Joey (1985) is strange. Another cool poster for a movie by Roland Emmerich I can't explain the plot of. A kid with bully issues that would make Stephen King blush has a dead father; now he has powers. Some cool visuals, Star Wars references, and bad acting.

The Stoned Age (1994) is a coming of ‘age’ story with less weed than expected. It’s more about getting laid, drunk, and following a bunch of scumbags around. This is another movie that had beautiful topless women to distract the target audience, but forgot to work on the script.

Leaning into the psychological approach more may have helped. Instead, it has moments of questionable logic and characters that fall just short of feeling real.

For movies, I saw To Sleep with a Vampire (1992), a film less tantalizing than its title implies. Interesting ideas about vampirism are buried in a long and boring night of supernatural foreplay that the nudity can't save.
