Here's an increasingly rare sight - a Song Thrush at the edge of a pond, collecting muddy vegetation for the lining of its nest. The bird will sit inside the nest and slowly circle around to create the smoothest clay lining, on which to lay its beautiful sky blue & black spleckled eggs. 3718

This is on Spitchwick Commons near Poundsgate. It’s legal but ecologically crackers: the gorse is a nursery for trees that eventually shade out the scrub, but now the trees are dead. 1826989
