Hermaea variopicta (Fire-tipped Sea Slug) at Wembury Point today. A very rare Sacoglossan Sea Slug; just the 8th British record I believe!

Chuffed to have hosted Dr Erica McAlister — entomologist, author & Natural History Museum fly curator — at Le Moulin. 🪰 She gave us a brilliant talk, explored our rewilding project… and loved it. ❤️ We want this to be a place where serious naturalists come to visit. Felt like a bit of a milestone. 🦋

When I was a kid it was my job to peel the mushrooms. The skin was poisonous. About the same time, a bloke at my dad’s work gave him a coconut. We considered that beast as a family, then the drill came out for milk drainage before it was hit with a hammer on the back step.

When I have amassed no fortune whatsoever, working in nature conservation, I will for sure endeavour to lose as much money as possible trading in antiques and old stuff I like.

love this, such a sweet little thing. Old and tired but all the better for it. Czechoslovakian enamel dish and hand painted. 30s/40s I’m guessing. Worth next to nothing which to me adds enormous value.

A genuine legend in the world of nature conservation. Andy’s dedication, observations and commitment are second to none. ‘Wetland Wings’ is a rare and sublime insight into the birdlife of north Norfolk.

Bought a few pieces by James Allen recently. Local artist and painted landscapes across Norfolk & Suffolk. I don’t know much about his work, but if anyone is familiar or has insight I’d be glad to hear more.

I’ve wanted a printers/letterpress tray for an age. Ive already got a bunch of bits to populate some of it, but having one is essentially a gateway drug to rabidly collecting more tiny treasures.

Decent article but why does it repeat the myth that 'net zero can seem like an unaffordable luxury'? It'll cost £70 per person per year, and be a net *benefit* to the economy within 14 years! It's the very opposite of an unaffordable luxury - it's an unavoidable investment, and cheap at any price

While nature recovery can help mitigate climate change, I’m increasingly unconvinced by arguments focusing on ‘natural climate solutions’ They bias conservation towards habitats thought to hold more carbon And can imply emissions can be simply offset by planting loads of trees, etc

One of the old turnstiles (quite fancy really) in the long defunct cattle fence between the dunes and saltmarsh at Brancaster. A remnant of when the marsh was grazed. Opinions vary greatly on when this practice came to an end.

I’ve driven past this AA ‘sentry box’ at Brancaster hundreds of times, but never really looked. Grade 2 listed and one of only twenty or so that remain. I bet someone (possibly as geeky as me) has made a pilgrimage to all of them.
