#repost

How to get into nature.
A four-panel comic titled "how to get into nature". In panel 1, a person kneels in the woods, looking down at a red-backed salamander, and the text says "notice a living thing." In panel 2, the text says "notice some other things that live near it," and there's a starflower, springtail, ant, little wood satyr butterfly, and salamander on the leaf litter. In panel 3, covered in creatures, plants, and a colorful starburst, the text says "Notice the connections between them, discover the wider ecosystem, learn about its histories, and find yourself following links from bedrock to stratosphere, between biotic and abiotic, at scales both microbial and massive, until you’re hopelessly overwhelmed by the wonder of it all." In panel 4, the text says "Fall into a daze and let moss engulf you." The person from the first panel is still kneeling in the woods, looking happy as moss slowly engulfs them, and they're saying "This is for the best."

Something a little different. Some cartoonists put out a call for comics about local ICE experiences. This one happened a few months ago so it's a little older than current events, but it's a story that I never stopped thinking about. #ICEoutcomics
An image of a volleyball against a blue background. The text says: In my home state of Massachusetts, ICE is hunting a man who has an expired visa. They find the man’s car, but the driver is just the man’s son, a teen heading to volleyball practice. ICE arrests the teen.A conversation between two people in speech bubbles: “Do you know why you’re under arrest?” “No.” “Because you’re illegal. You’re an immigrant.” “Ma’am, I was seven years old.” Then, text at the bottom says: The teen is put into a concrete cell with 35 men.The community rallies behind him. There's an image of yard signs with the smiling face of the teen that say Free Marcelo. Some quotes from locals: “He’s one of our brothers. Without him, it just kind of feels like a dark, empty room.” -volleyball team captain. “This administration isn’t keeping us safe by putting 18-year-old honors students in prison.” -MA Rep. MoultonIn the cell, the teen helps translate for those who don’t speak English. Many are ill. After 6 days, he’s released. There's an image of a hand and arm, with a crinkly foil bracelet tied around the wrist. Wearing a bracelet that another detainee made him from one of the thin mylar blankets they were given, he says: “ I don’t want to cry. But I want to say...nobody should be in here.”

#3157 A helpful tutorial
A digital drawing of one of those drawing tutorials that says 'don't do this, do this.'
The drawing is of an almost naked middle-aged man doing a flying kick. The 'Don't do this' one has a bunch of areas circled and a cross under it. The 'Do this' one is exactly the same but without the circles and a tick instead of a cross.
The text reads 'Needlessly adding red circles will ruin your art' and a smaller bit of text at the bottom reads 'Bonus tip! Add a tick under all your art so people think you did it right.'

I'm old. If you're not, listen to this. Get a guitar or some drums, or a trumpet. Pick up a brush, a pencil, some clay or a welder. Just make shit. It doesn't have to be good (eventually it will be) just make music, art or write or whatever. It's literally never been more important.

Let it go.
