Her hissed "don't you dare" came far too late. It happened right as the priest was about to continue speaking. Mom wished the floor would open up and swallow her. My therapist at the time was also a Deacon, and he just shook his head. I, and a lot of other kids, thought it was hilarious.

I was a gassy child. Digestive issues found me young, and while sometimes I couldn't help it, I also found farts hilarious and would sometimes help it along. Right after solemnly singing, I leaned over and asked mom the dreaded question. "Do you know why they're called pews?"

When my parents divorced, my grandma asked my mom continue taking me to the Catholic Church, and mom agreed so long as I wanted to go. We used to go every Sunday, and mom and I would sit in the first few rows until two things happened. I should also note that I was young when these things happened
