If you’re able, please support this verified GoFundMe for Alex Pretti’s family. And if you’re not in a position to donate, sharing it far and wide matters just as much. It’s at $300K and counting.

While Kristi Noem’s out here blaming everyone but herself, here’s her own April press release bragging about clawing back $882M in disaster resilience grants. The kind that could’ve helped in Texas. They’d rather wage culture wars than actually protect human lives.

FEMA Ends Wasteful, Politicized Grant Program, Returning Agency to Core Mission of Helping Americans Recovering from Natural Disasters
Release Date: April 4, 2025
Under Secretary Noem, DHS is eliminating waste, fraud and abuse
WASHINGTON - FEMA is ending the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program and canceling all BRIC applications from Fiscal Years 2020-2023. If grant funds have not been distributed to states, tribes, territories and local communities, funds will be immediately returned either to the Disaster Relief Fund or the U.S. Treasury.
Statement Attributable to a FEMA Spokesperson:
"The BRIC program was yet another example of a wasteful and ineffective FEMA program. It was more concerned with political agendas than helping Americans affected by natural disasters. Under Secretary Noem's leadership, we are committed to ensuring that Americans in crisis can get the help and resources they need."
Approximately $882 million of funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will be returned to the U.S. Treasury or reapportioned by Congress in the next fiscal year. The 2021 law made $1 billion available for BRIC over five years, $133 million to date has been provided for about 450 applications. FEMA estimates more than $3.6 billion will remain in the Disaster Relief Fund to assist with disaster response and recovery for communities and survivors.
Ending this program will help ensure that grant funding aligns with the President's Executive Orders and Secretary Noem's direction and best support states and local communities in disaster planning, response and recovery.

Were you the ones that put that in? 😂

Like they say, trends always circle back after time ... Your grandma could have the trendiest living room! I have that mustard yellow linoleum with white floral designs right now, I think it matches my personality. LOL!

Elon Karen Muskrat @whywhycee.bsky.social · 10/04/2025

Linoleum floors are no longer popular! And neither is shag carpet and tassel furniture! LOL!

I'll rest when I'm dead! LOL. I work hard and play hard! For me planning and thinking and designing is stressful! I have more fun building. I think it's where my skills really shine. Are you someone that follows interior design and trends?

I'm 90% done with my island which was the first stage. Upper cabinets, then lower cabinets and ALL appliances, and last flooring. I planned this 8 months ago and now prices have changed so I might have to wait on the full project. Maybe I'll resume the uppers in May? Haha.

Elon Karen Muskrat @whywhycee.bsky.social · 31/03/2025

Thanks for the offer! I already have all the tools I require, the only thing I didn't plan for was the increase in prices due to tariffs for everything. When are you starting your project?

Elon Karen Muskrat @whywhycee.bsky.social · 28/03/2025

While I'm there, I may need your sink and fridge as well! 😂 I'll get an opinion from ya afterwards. I did show a couple friends the concept and got mixed reactions so it'd be interesting to see what you think. 😘

I wouldn't be mad if it were an everyday thing.

Elon Karen Muskrat @whywhycee.bsky.social · 27/03/2025

Looks like you've got it semi easy! It should be fun I hope! I'm gutting an 80's kitchen and going all new. Live in renovations are the absolute worst! I might have to invite myself over to use your stove ... LOL! 😉

110

Elon Karen Muskrat @whywhycee.bsky.social · 24/03/2025

Coincidence! Is it a full kitchen reno where the cabinets have to go as well? Much less screen time for me but I'll be doom scrolling here every so often. I won't forget about my favorite person!

Elon Karen Muskrat @whywhycee.bsky.social · 24/03/2025

I see it now! Haha. I'm good, getting into the busy season at work and I'm planning to do a kitchen renovation so I'm keeping busy. I think I'm gonna have to leave The Floatplane Notebooks till later though. 🙊

Molly! How are you?! Media doesn't always work for me, I can't see your post. 🥲

That pictures fake. The real one is this:

I'm ready! Once I figure out how to put this headband on!

I hope you love it as much as I did! 😘

120

Elon Karen Muskrat @whywhycee.bsky.social · 07/03/2025

You can also wait till I'm done it to see if it's worth the read. 🥰

120

Elon Karen Muskrat @whywhycee.bsky.social · 06/03/2025

Deal! I'm about to start a new book called 'Pretty Girls' a friend recommended so when I finish that one I'll begin yours! 😀

110

Elon Karen Muskrat @whywhycee.bsky.social · 06/03/2025

I haven't. Everything I read now is non fiction. I'm a knowledge freak. I'm always open to recommendations so send over a book that you love and I'll read!

120

Elon Karen Muskrat @whywhycee.bsky.social · 06/03/2025

That's so awesome! I hope that you'll like it! Growing up I wanted to be a child psychologist and work with troubled teens. I actually grew up as a troubled teen so the book has meaning to me, which is a reason why I loved the book. 🤞

I'm embarrassed to say I have heard of David Lynch but I don't think I've watched any of his work. What's your recommendation on what to start with?

110

Elon Karen Muskrat @whywhycee.bsky.social · 06/03/2025

I've never watched PBS. 🤭 I would say a book called 'Runaway Devil'. It's about a 13 year old who murdered her family with her boyfriend close to where I live. I don't want to ramble on so answer my question! LOL

120

Elon Karen Muskrat @whywhycee.bsky.social · 06/03/2025

You're going to be shocked when I say I don't have cable or Netflix! I'm a reader, big into True Crime, and when the TV turns on it's YouTube due to my music subscriptions. What's YOUR obsession (for shows)?

130

Elon Karen Muskrat @whywhycee.bsky.social · 05/03/2025

No no don't ask me first! It was a coincidence, I was wondering the same thing earlier. Got your back though! 😘
