Shutters an interesting idea. I’d have to get permission from housing association. House has external wall insulation which might make fixing difficult. I will investigate.

Excellent tip - thanks. Yes, happy to be here; more space, less barking.

October sun has heated the lounge in my new home to 25.8°C. Outside is 13°C. I'll have to do something to limit the amount of sun getting in next summer. This year I learnt blinds aren't enough. I might try lining most of the window with foil, leaving a bit uncovered to let some light in.

I booked 2 men + van to move my stuff to my new home. 2nd man dropped out yesterday evening so 1 man moved 99%, I did the other (less than) 1%. Last time I saw someone work that hard was a hod carrier in 1973. He moved bed, fridge, freezer, 3D printer & everything else on his own. Amazing.

Move done. I am living in a pile of boxes. Too knackered to unpack anything but bare essentials today.

Moving day today. I told Vodaphone I'll be moving so they thoughtfully disconnected my broadband in the middle of the night. Lucky this place has free WiFi and the new place has good 5G coverage. Open Reach say they'll connect fibre on Monday. When I move here they took 8 months.

I turn 70 in a couple of weeks. Yesterday I booked my shingles vaccination for a few days after. I would have preferred to get this shot years ago but it would have cost around £500.

I reckon so. More accurately called a Reliant Robin as Reliant were the manufacture. As well a crappy 3 wheelers they also made the Scimitar with a Ford V6, a favourite of Princess Anne. IIRC, she was done for speeding in it.

Likely to have been young men with mothers & wives who didn't want to be there and/or didn't know what they were letting themselves in for. The willingness of old men to send huge number of young men to their deaths is chilling.

So he’s probably good for another 1,200 years, then. He‘ll be back here in 2056 grumbling that this pair didn’t last as long & the next pair will cost 2 sheds.

You make an important point. But has quality been maintained? Would a new pair last 40 years? Would Bretwalda last that long?
