Look at the shabby state and increasingly authoritarian trajectory of the country and ask yourself if we can endure 2 more years of a lawless Trump administration wreaking havoc with no check from Congress, then vote accordingly. This is not the time for a protest vote or purity politics.

In that way, it symbolizes the themes; the conflict ended just as quickly as it started.

In book two, things shrink down tremendously, leading to a set of intimate, personal, horrifying stories. Both books incorporate the science throughout, once again providing that grounding sense of "realism". The book's themes are steadfast to this day. Shockingly, it does have a good ending.

Things are particularly epic in book one, with some extraordinary descriptions of events at tremendous scale that still leave me in awe. The perspective changes some, which detached me from some of that action a bit, but not terribly so.

The story takes place in two "books", and while I personally got more hooked by the second one, both have a role in the overall story told. It can at times feel like a cold, heartless examination of terrible events, but there's a conversational nature, too. This levels things out, I think.

The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells Another smash hit from Wells, and it's evident why it had such a lasting impact and is his seminal work. It does a beautiful job of marrying the science and the fiction of it, illustrating how much they already theorized in their time. #WhisperillLitLog

I'm still in shock, I'm going to one of my holy grail concerts in less than two months and the ticket was less than $50 AHHHHHHHHGGGGHHHGG

A screenshot of a website, showing the info of a concert event. It says:
"Monday December 7, 2026
The Format (Unplugged)
Doors 6:30pm
Showtime 7:30pm
Timezone - US/Central

Beer City Music Hall 1141 NW 2nd St Oklahoma City OK 73106"
The cover art for the event is a crudely drawn guitar on an orange background accompanied by the band's name in playful letters.

Sonic Rush (Oct 7) 7/10 All stage S ranks "When you first play a level, it can be frustrating to be punished so harshly for one mistake, in an often unpredictable way. Later on, when you begin to learn the levels thoroughly, you hardly even notice it." #WhisperillGameLog

The Cheese and the Worms: The Cosmos of a Sixteenth-Century Miller (Oct 7) I'll be honest, this was certainly above my reading level, but as a recommendation from my gf I was happy with what I was able to extract from it. It's a special examination of a rare time capsule. #WhisperillLitLog

Cover art for the book, with olive green banners to the sides, a muted purple banner across the top displaying the Author's name. In the the center is a detailed sketch of a peasant sitting on the ground, barefoot in a medieval city.
