And just as poisonous,

I wonder if this is all she's known of beauty,
Something empty and weightless,
A whisper of form, a reflection, an idea
Not something real and true
And I wonder if that's why she hates my body,
My body that curves like Earth herself, heavy and solid
That cracks where she stretches and grows,
With dimpled mountains and rolling hills,
With deep valleys and peaceful meadows.
And I wonder if she knows that beauty doesn't have to be so light and airy
So empty and hollow,
It can be something heavy,
Flawed and imperfect.
It can be something deeper than the surface.
It can be me.
And I wonder if she knows that the only thing “too heavy” for me
Is the weight of her words on my heart.
