Since hungry, I post about food. Leftover oatmeal is notoriously... Not Great™️. Its overthickened with starch. BUT Lemme tell you pancakes make with leftover oatmeal? That's a whole new thing and I love 'em. Let 'em cool so the texture gets more even, and I found they taste better than standard!

Reminder to folks in Northern hemisphere: If root veg is affordable, it's healthy and makes a great huge tray of varied veg. The leftovers? Puree it with walnuts, spices, oil, whatever seasonings your heart desires, and serve on pasta - pesto-style! Is tasty.

Finally watching Castle in the Sky! Solid candidate for fave Ghibli movie. The action is campy, the men are himbos, the engineers look like Robotnik, the music is PS1 Final Fantasy era, the legally-distinct Nazis are the obvious villains, the food looks delicious... Everything is as it should be.

Who wants to hear a nuanced take too late I think preserving food is good. Dry fruit, jerky, fruit leather, yom. Salted kippers, pickling, hell yeah. Frozen and canned food is just fine. Even chemical preservatives, hey, better than mold. Because I'm against *food waste*, w/ food insecurity rampant.

Since people tend to like my pickles, here's things you can pickle! Hardboiled eggs, garlic, cucumbers (esp overripe garden ones!), parboiled eggplant (peel it first), cut up peppers, onions (esp red!), carrots (cut thin), chopped cabbage, zucchini (cut out seeds, extra good). Save our bumper crops!
