I'm surprised this thread isn't overwhelmed with folks saying Game of Thrones, but that's how bad the later seasons were, that this huge cultural juggernaut of a show isn't even thought about anymore. Started going downhill once they ran out of written material, but seasons 7 & 8 are total nonsense.

I didn't spoil the reveal for my husband of who the seventh for Dunk's trial was and now I want a cookie

There have been some cringe Snatch Games before, but holy crap! Season 17's had me practically hiding behind the couch 😖

If, and only if, the Democrats are willing to enforce consequences for the people who trampled those norms and put firm guardrails in place to keep future bad actors from simply doing it all again

It's been a full two months since the end of one of my gaming groups' last campaign and we still haven't started the next one. Did session zero 3 weeks ago, then a scheduling conflict with 2 players meant we couldn't play the next week, then the GM cancels the day of last week and again today...

Fuck man, Jacob Geller?!? How do these rapists insinuate themselves in progressive spaces and not feel like total frauds? You'd think anyone with a conscience would get 5 minutes into a podcast or whatever before completely losing it like they hear a telltale heart.

Whole interview is infuriating but in particular, I wish someone would challenge Trump to his face on the fact that he doesn't seem to understand how trade works on the most fundamental level. Like, if you spend $40B on Swiss watches, you don't "lose" that money; now you have $40B worth of watches!

I stammer when I'm nervous too, so I get it. But if you're going to give a speech that sounds like a Simpsons bit —with a list that was clearly written with a specific cadence in mind— you've got to nail the delivery

I enjoyed that series but I was always thrown by the extended sequences of Simon dissociating twice per book

Resident Evil was fun, but I feel like Cold Storage did a lot of the same things, but better

You can't, and shouldn't seek to, replace public schools or libraries with bookstores. You can't replace a public good with a private business, no matter how well-meaning or well-organized it may be.

I was worried this was going to happen to me today. I cut myself trimming my nose hairs before a job fair this morning and while I was able to stop the bleeding, I was dreading a sneeze and the ensuing bloodbath. Got lucky though. And got offered a job on the spot!

Today I went to a town hall by the VC company that's trying to open an AI data centre in my town, then meet a friend at the local medieval faire afterwards and now I would just like to cease to exist for, like, 24-48 hours. 🫩

maybe a more precise phrasing of the original point would be people can produce careless work or careful work but LLMs can only produce careless work, even if it is sometimes correct, because they are incapable of care

The crazy thing about the outpouring of love for Dolly Parton is that today’s billionaires could give 100x times what Dolly gave without feeling it. And they just choose not to, every single day.

I was a playtester for The Watch and have played and run it a bunch since then. I even played in a pre-alpha version of Mars Watch. It's a great PBTA game about smashing the Patriarchy before it consumes everything. If you haven't tried it, keep an eye out for this Kickstarter next month!

Writing an article or essay is so fucking easy. If it is hard for you or you dread it enough to use AI I suggest you remove from your to-do list “writing articles and essays.” I do not, for example, enter golf tourneys or work at a mechanic’s shop because I am not good at those and don’t like them.
