As covered by the West Seattle Blog, a meeting attended by SDOT, WSF, and CM Saka by the Fauntleroy Community Association regarding bike safety near the ferry dock had a lot of support for establishing a short but critical bike lane on Wildwood Way where a cyclist was recently killed. Link below:

If you’re coming to the Summer Fest in West Seattle, be advised that all racks inside the event area have been tagged as unavailable and you are directed to the bike parking area at 44th and Oregon. At this location, you find barricade-style bike racks.

Biking is the best way to get to Mariners games. It seems like word is getting out on this fact as the bike room was as full as we've ever seen it at Sunday's game.

Our friends at @westseattlebikes.bsky.social are presenting a letter to tomorrow's transportation committee to dead end 23rd where it crosses the West Seattle Bridge trail along Delridge. This would be a massive improvement, I encourage folks to join in support!
Cut-through with uncontrolled crossing of the bike/ped path (in purple) at 23rd/Delridge.
Drivers use this to avoid the controlled intersection of Delridge/Andover
West Seattle Bike
Connections is requesting that 23rd be dead-ended at Delridge to prevent drivers using 23rd as a cut-through

This and 17 other proposed in-street parking bike/scooter parking corrals have been axed. These corrals would improve visibility, safety, and accessibility but the Pioneer Square Preservation Board and the Pioneer Square Alliance don't like them 🙄. Speak up for them tomorrow morning at 9 AM online:

In my own world, I’m personally trying to market Alki as a bike friendly destination. Bike racks, businesses and parks welcoming cyclists. 🎉 Now that the beautiful E Marginal way is open ( 😊 @westseattlebikes.bsky.social ) + Alki Pt Healthy St, we can increase bikes ( and maybe reduce cars?!)

We're thinking it's time to dead-end 23rd Ave SW where it meets Delridge at the West Seattle Bridge Trail. This intersection creates unsafe situations for cyclists and drivers on one of the busiest bike routes on this side of town. And really, cars are just shortcutting the light at Andover.

While it's not in West Seattle, it's likely a lot of WS bike commuters are going to appreciate the completion of the Yesler bike lane from the waterfront to 4th Ave. SDOT has installed cross signals and marked the outline of the paint. All good signs!
