Another shocking attack on Jewish Londoners causing fear and anxiety in the community. We stand side by side with everyone impacted by these reprehensible attacks and we say "Stop the hate!"

After many years of campaigning from Galop and others, the law has officially changed to classify hate crimes against LGBT+ and disabled people as aggravated offences – making them equal to crimes motivated by racial and religious hate. Read our full statement here: www.galop.org.uk/news/anti-lg...

Today is Trans Day of Visibility! Sadly, to be visible today is risky for this group, and it should not be. Show your support to someone being targeted for who they are, they cannot change and for which they're marginalised today, and every day, be a #Transally

WLEC is deeply saddened by the sudden news of the death of Dr Aysha Raza. Amongst her many roles, she served for many years as a WLEC Trustee and campaigned strongly for equality rights. Her energy was infectious and unbounded.... 1/2

No one should ever be made to feel unsafe for who they are. As LGBT+ people, we deserve to live authentically as ourselves, free from abuse and violence 🌈🏳️‍⚧️ If you experience abuse or violence, please remember that it isn't your fault. No matter when, where, or how it happened, we're here for you.

It's #RefugeeWeek. There have been refugees since humanity began, and we are all the better for it. Our clientele includes 1st, 2nd, 3rd generation refugees. As do our staff, volunteers and trustees. We think it makes us stronger together.

The Grenfell fire was 8 years ago killing over 70 people in a misguided and criminal attempt to save money on the back of poor people. At that time there weren't sufficient empty flats for the displaced residents. Unbelievably the housing crisis is still worsening.

Today's announcement by the government is a sad instance of othering and even worse of scapegoating vulnerable people. The government worries us. We work hard to obtain rights for people that are otherwise marginalised as that helps integration and settlement more than othering.

Labour’s ‘new’ migration plans are a continuation of a long history of racist, xenophobic immigration policies. This government says it's committed to race equality, but these plans are a form of modern day racism 🧵

We are shocked and saddened by the Supreme court decision re trans women, especially as the community wasn't permitted to speak. This decision will bring harm and risk to a small & vulnerable group, that has existed since humanity began. What happened to equality?

Two excellent letters in the Guardian today about the failure of the Sentencing Council to persevere, outlining why in fact there is two tier justice for ethnic minority groups who come off worse, and why the pre-sentence reports can bear results.

Listening to More or Less on @bbcradio4.bsky.social and the "25% disabled" headline looks very different. It is all in the questions asked of people. Only 10pc claim any disabled/sickness benefit. Yet the damage is done.

The push to have the private sector take care of housing has led to homelessness and a bulging benefit bill. We know this. Here is why it's not getting better soon. Claimants top up from other benefits meaning they go hungry. @trusselluk.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/money/2025/a...

Sadly few people know their rights, and struggle to exercise them. And if you're from a minority background or lack literacy, this makes it double difficult.
