i'm not mad that people made horror projects of the series with shock content and gore, i'm mad that they did so while deliberately tricking children into thinking it was for us. and the worst part is that this barely scratches the surface of how uncomfortable they made me as a kid

i have a love/hate relationship because although G4 spawned such a creative fanbase with so many interesting fan projects, it was hell for us young fans. you especially can't defend something predatory like Smile HD, which intentionally lured the younger fans just for the sake of traumatizing them.

i think bronies had a tendency to assume they were the core fans of the show and now nearly every mlp fan you know today are adult women who watched the show when they were little. like OF COURSE adult fans were going to outnumber young fans online.

Being insecure about liking the cartoon that they had to twist it into "Uhhh this isn't a kids show! SHOO GO AWAY KIDS!" like just stop. It's awesome that the show was able to appeal to adults. That's something I always liked about it, but don't diss the intended demographic!

it was never inherently bad to be a 'brony' but speaking as someone who absolutely adored MLP G4 as a child, their entitlement and utter disregard and lack of respect for the young fans of the show was honestly despicable in hindsight
