So, Game design question, Often it is talked about that mechanics should emphasize the themes of the game. These are often called flavor wins/fails. Making mechanics and theming at least rhyme seems like a good idea but are their themes that just cannot be expressed mechanically or vice versa?

Daily Godot Tip #25: You can color folders by right clicking them and then clicking set folder color. Any files/folders will be colored the same color (unless the subfolder explicitly has another color set) Useful for finding certain folders quicker #godot #gamedev #godottips

A screenshot of a code file (probably written in Lua) from the game Balatro, with a huge list of "if statements" for the logic of the Joker cards. It's considered bad programming practice, but the game still sold by millions.

Today I learned a new word to think about game design. "Simulacrum" is a representative imitation of the real thing but intentionally inaccurate, while "Simulation" tries to get as close as possible to the real deal. So I guess most game worlds and game mechanics are simulacrums, not simulations.
