Saw @ronfunches.bsky.social at the Olsen Run Comedy Club in Eugene tonight. I laughed so hard and applauded so much that my watch told me I had made my movement goal at the end of the show. Thanks for the great time!

To be a true Thief of Joy, you have to take the Prestige Class, after multi-classing in Warlock.

Dude has been non-gendered (at least in California, where I was at the time) since the mid-80s.

I want all the Young Avengers!! Billy, Tommy, Ms. Marvel, Kate, and Cassie! Maybe even Skaar, though it really feels like they decided to sweep that one under the rug...

We dive into the mystery of who killed Hal Jordan, starting with a revelation about John and Hal meeting the night of the murder. We also meet some new characters and an old…favorite? Well, let’s just say people have strong opinions about this Guy. #Lanterns welcome2geektown.com/geektown/2026/9/…

Unsurprisingly, the list is very American-centric. Just a couple of British shows, and I think Squid Game is the only non-English show on there. Completely agree on Slings & Arrows. If you're going to include continuation shows like Twin Peaks, then the Kids in the Hall revival should be on there.

Kurt "Welcome to Geektown” Onstad @welcome2geektown.com · 27/09/2026

I agree it's a great show, but I'm guessing that since it started in 1998, it didn't qualify for the "21st century" list.

Due to a couple of unforced errors on my part, the charging cable on my laptop was running from the MagSafe port on the left to...the USB-C port on the right. Yes, my computer was trying to charge itself. If that had worked, it would have been quite the blow to the laws of physics.

As I recall (along with evidence in this latest ep of Lanterns), Batman has been active for a while already in this universe and will have son Damian in the movie, so going older wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility. You have the Matt Reeves movies for "young" Batman, so good differentiation.

I prefer the girl from the ad (especially when the subtitle has the Spanish), but I think El Dorado won this war.

This mid-season episode felt like a season finale, with a massive battle in and for the town of Rushville. Guest Woody Gaertner and I have a lot to say, discussing not only this episode, but where things might go from here. welcome2geektown.com/geektown/2026/9/…

Disney+, not Disney. Each service has to be profitable on its own for the company to continue it.

000

Kurt "Welcome to Geektown” Onstad @welcome2geektown.com · 21/09/2026

The original price points of Disney+ and pretty much all streaming platforms were not profitable. If this is what it takes for the service to become viable in the long term without actually interrupting the show I'm watching, I'll survive.

Kurt "Welcome to Geektown” Onstad @welcome2geektown.com · 21/09/2026

Well as the article says it is pre- and post- watching ads. No ads actually interrupting the show/movie once it starts until the end. So there is still a difference. Ending ads are easy to skip & pre-show promos already show up occasionally on the highest tier (currently with a "Skip Promo" button).

We already had a perfect Shadow King portrayal in Legion. Finally getting a good Jean was a pleasant surprise (well, sort of a surprise, since it was completely spoiled that it was Jean ages before the movie was released).

Was Fred Trump well-known enough to have that done to him? I guess since he was New York-based, writers in that area could use him as a basis for something that ended up playing nationally, but would the regular public have gotten the reference?

You should definitely watch at least one episode of each of the shows, except B5, which you should watch all of right now. You should also definitely watch the Goofy Movie. Unless you were into the show at some point, Transformers: The Movie probably wouldn't do much for you.

My favorite example along this line is that at one point in Bruce Wayne's life, the timeline was such that the most likely Zorro movie for him and his family to see was Zorro, the Gay Blade.

I understand lots of artists use reference, but the way Land uses the same references over & over, then is unwilling to alter the reference enough so that by using different references he has characters changing hairstyles & such mid-page is where the criticism becomes more valid, as it feels lazy.

Wow. Alex Jaffe just blocked me because I replied to his post and added a little more information/interpretation to his answer about the rings from the various Lantern Corps. I knew he was sensitive, but that seems extreme. Oh well.
