Have never heard Barclays Center louder than when boygenius reunited tonight near the end of Phoebe’s set for Not Strong Enough and Cool About It. Ban phones from most concerts, please.

Once is my all-time favorite movie. Glen Hansard’s songs meant so much. And he was all class. Here’s a clip of him doing a short bit of “Linger” at Brooklyn Steel just a few days after Dolores O'Riordan passed in 2018. Rest well, Glen.

Right, but it’s not artificial inflation. Danny Clinch liked this photo on IG, as did numerous people I know. The point is that no one’s really giving anything a close look.

Yeah. I get that people love the celebratory vibe but… it ain’t real. So many great actual photos and videos are out there. Yet the slop persists.

One of the most viral “Knicks parade” photos from today is at least 70% AI. Zoom in on that Knicks logo, friends. We’re done for.

Half of these people are posting screenshots of obvious bugs where info is missing. It’s only been out for a few days. The point of the new app is to be more conversational about what your data actually means. I’m enjoying it, but can understand why the big makeover is annoying existing users.

The coffee shop is packed with people. It’s giving out coupons to anyone who donates plasma in the blood center truck outside. A pair of neighbors wait for coffee and fill each other in on the latest ICE killing. A man has to excuse himself to quietly cry in the corner. A Saturday in Minneapolis.

Lossless is rolling out gradually to over 50 markets through October. Australia, Austria, Czechia, Denmark, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden, the US, and the UK are up first. If you have Premium, you’ll get a notification when it’s available for your account.

130

Chris Welch @welch.bsky.social · 10/09/2025

It doesn’t cost anything extra beyond the normal Premium subscription. There’s no “Supremium” plan or Music Pro add-on. It took the company this long… just to deliver the core feature it announced in February 2021. What a thing.

Chris Welch @welch.bsky.social · 10/09/2025

News: Spotify Lossless is here. More than FOUR YEARS since being announced, today the music streaming service is rolling out the higher quality — up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC — to Premium subscribers in select markets.

the degradation / dismantling of Eater is such a damn shame. in a world of influencer- and bot-skewed restaurant ratings, googling "eater [city]" provided guidance from passionate locals with good taste; it was a cheat code for eating well wherever you traveled
