This is grabbing people's attention but I think it's also worth pointing out that in this same discussion Kurt Metzger says he gets his info from Kiwi Farms (look it up) and said @bencollins.bsky.social last name was a "converso name for Cohen". The Rogansphere is an absolute shitshow of awfulness.

In his Thiel biography 'The Contrarian', Max Chafkin notes that Rabois was basically a mini-me of Thiel, who soon became his mentor at Stanford (Thiel is 2 years older). Both are gay, but at the time were closeted, leading to this sort of self-hating nonsense.
Excerpt from The Contrarian: “In March 1992, a month after Thiel had published his editor’s note about career prospects, Rabois, who was then a first-year law student, decided to take his trolling beyond the pages of the Review. Several years earlier, a sibling of one of his frat brothers had been thrown out of university housing for using a homophobic slur to describe a gay resident assistant. Now, while walking through the same dorm, Otero House, after a night of socializing, Rabois decided to make a point. He stood outside of the home where Otero’s resident fellow, Dennis Matthies, lived and repeated the same word.

“Faggot!” Rabois screamed, at the top of his lungs. “You are going to die of AIDS. You’re going to get what’s coming to you! You’re going to get what’s coming to you! Damn faggot!” At some point during this tirade, he added another taunt: “See if you can kick me out of housing.”

Matthies, a lecturer who taught great books classes and who was not, as far as anyone knew, gay, had not been home. But students reported the incident, and the Stanford Daily covered it as a possible violation of the university rules prohibiting hate speech. Rabois maintained he’d done nothing wrong—and said that he had calibrated his insults specifically to avoid running afoul of the rules. He told the Daily that his comments were permissible because they were “mostly about faggots being bad in general,” rather than being specific to Matthies. He said he’d intended his outburst as a protest against the campus regulation of speech. “I’m a first-year law student,” he boasted. “I know exactly what you can say and what you can’t.” In a follow-up letter, Rabois wrote, “I don’t necessarily hate homosexuals,” but went on to say that he thought they shouldn’t be schoolteachers.

The reaction on campus was predictably harsh. Rabois had been correct that yelling anti-gay slurs wasn’t a violation of Stanford policy, but that didn’t stop the Stanford administrators from publicly condemn…

Also, this 'graph' is sending me, such insights, very wow 😂
A man, Jacob Hellberg, sits on right of image at a desk, facing the camera but looking at people behind the camera. To his left is a graph, titled "Winning the AI race: Marketshare vs Innovation". The y-axis is labeled 'Innovation', the x-axis is labeled 'Marketshare'. The graph content is simply a big arrow pointing up and to the right, with text overlaid on it saying "Path to victory"

The Technocratic Conspiracy: How tech tycoons plan to disrupt democracy and become the new rulers of the world
On July 25, 2024, Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for the presidential election in the United States, selected as his running mate 39-year-old senator JD Vance. It was in some ways a strange pick: many believed Trump might need to pick a running mate who would appeal to some of the demographics he was himself not popular with, such as women and minorities. Instead, he chose Vance, a middle-aged white male with some extreme views about women and minorities, who […]

Josh Hawley is a Thiel boy, so plenty of skepticism from me that this is more performative than anything (Thiel was an early investor in Flock), though possibly as a minority investor this is an easy scapegoat to take the heat off the other companies (or a dig at Andreesssen, who has more in Flock)?
