Elon Musk/Tesla just unveiled their long-rumoured 'flying car' at today's Roadster event. An impressive marketing video catering to the 'Everyone is 12 now' population, but totally useless for everyday driving (and unlikely to ever be street legal in any way).

In his Thiel biography 'The Contrarian', Max Chafkin notes that Rabois was basically a mini-me of Thiel, who soon became his mentor at Stanford (Thiel is 2 years older). Both are gay, but at the time were closeted, leading to this sort of self-hating nonsense.
Excerpt from The Contrarian: “In March 1992, a month after Thiel had published his editor’s note about career prospects, Rabois, who was then a first-year law student, decided to take his trolling beyond the pages of the Review. Several years earlier, a sibling of one of his frat brothers had been thrown out of university housing for using a homophobic slur to describe a gay resident assistant. Now, while walking through the same dorm, Otero House, after a night of socializing, Rabois decided to make a point. He stood outside of the home where Otero’s resident fellow, Dennis Matthies, lived and repeated the same word.

“Faggot!” Rabois screamed, at the top of his lungs. “You are going to die of AIDS. You’re going to get what’s coming to you! You’re going to get what’s coming to you! Damn faggot!” At some point during this tirade, he added another taunt: “See if you can kick me out of housing.”

Matthies, a lecturer who taught great books classes and who was not, as far as anyone knew, gay, had not been home. But students reported the incident, and the Stanford Daily covered it as a possible violation of the university rules prohibiting hate speech. Rabois maintained he’d done nothing wrong—and said that he had calibrated his insults specifically to avoid running afoul of the rules. He told the Daily that his comments were permissible because they were “mostly about faggots being bad in general,” rather than being specific to Matthies. He said he’d intended his outburst as a protest against the campus regulation of speech. “I’m a first-year law student,” he boasted. “I know exactly what you can say and what you can’t.” In a follow-up letter, Rabois wrote, “I don’t necessarily hate homosexuals,” but went on to say that he thought they shouldn’t be schoolteachers.

The reaction on campus was predictably harsh. Rabois had been correct that yelling anti-gay slurs wasn’t a violation of Stanford policy, but that didn’t stop the Stanford administrators from publicly condemn…

Also, this 'graph' is sending me, such insights, very wow 😂
A man, Jacob Hellberg, sits on right of image at a desk, facing the camera but looking at people behind the camera. To his left is a graph, titled "Winning the AI race: Marketshare vs Innovation". The y-axis is labeled 'Innovation', the x-axis is labeled 'Marketshare'. The graph content is simply a big arrow pointing up and to the right, with text overlaid on it saying "Path to victory"

BTW, in case you didn't already think Bryan Johnson was a first-class douche, a reminder that he's also a buddy of Curtis Yarvin.
Article text: "In mid-July, on the day Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt, Yarvin had his own reason to celebrate: his wedding to Militello at the gothic Berkeley City Club hotel. Guests included longevity guru Bryan Johnson, musician Grimes and Andreessen Horowitz partner Ryan McEntush, and they mingled with a smattering of other venture capitalists, founders, online agitators, artists and AI researchers."

Dude it's just tax, lol.
Twitter post by Gad Saad in which he says "In a sane world, governments exist to improve the lives of people (at a minimum). The worst incidents of my life all stem from the provincial and federal governments repeatedly punishing me financially for being successful in ways that make you feel trapped in a Kafkaesque prison of despair. I realize that many Canadians benefit from the system, and hence will exhibit zero empathy but in a just world, this reality should not be tolerated. It can't be that a government owns 65%+ of all of your worth once all taxes are added up. Send me good vibes. Going through a very difficult time."

Oh the entire point of the article is that Peter Thiel relies on people being too scared to theorize about possible conspiracies, and so we should make a point of believing conspiracies involving him.
Text from article: "In his book about the saga, Conspiracy: Peter Thiel, Hulk Hogan, Gawker, and the Anatomy of Intrigue, Ryan Holiday discusses how Peter Thiel told him directly how important conspiracies – and just as much, people’s unwillingness to believe in them – were to his success:

BLOCKQUOTE: “We live in a world where people don’t think conspiracies are possible,” Thiel would tell me. “We tend to denounce ‘conspiracy theories’ because we are skeptical of privileged claims to knowledge and of strong claims of human agency. Many people think they are not possible, that they can’t be pulled off.” In these pages, I seek to show you, step by step, not a conspiracy theory but an actual conspiracy as explained by the people who did pull one off.END BLOCKQUOTE

Holiday’s in-depth investigation of Thiel’s decade-long action against Gawker made him realise “how vulnerable this ignorance has made us to the few real conspiracies, successful or not, that exist in the world.”

BLOCKQUOTE: In this rare occasion, though, we got a glimpse, a peek behind the curtain…of how things work. Now we know. Peter showed us. And yet our instinct is to turn away, to put our fingers in our ears. It’s why not once in nearly a decade of concentrated effort and scheming directed at a single enemy — at an entity who was obsessively covered and followed by the media — by an opponent who publicly stated his undying hatred of that enemy, did a single spectator, victim, or even many of the participants suspect any of what you read in the pages of this book. There is no question that what Thiel did over those years was brilliant, cunning, and ruthless. END BLOCKQUOTE

Even crazier is the account of Lewis Mosley's interview with Alex Karp for the top job at Palantir UK.
Excerpt from the book 'The Philosopher in the Valley: Alex Karp, Palantir, and the Rise of the Surveillance State': "Through a friend, [Mosley] was introduced to Palantir, and after several rounds of interviews, he flew to Palo Alto to meet with Karp. As soon as Mosley took a seat, Karp began reciting a fiery speech that Oswald Mosley gave in 1939 demanding that Britain seek peace with Nazi Germany. (“Our generation shall not die like rats in Polish holes. They shall not die but shall live to see above their heads the English sky, to feel beneath their feet the English soil, and to enjoy the fair English countryside….”) Karp didn’t just repeat a few sentences; he went on for minutes, reproducing the speech from memory. Mosley sat in stunned silence. When Karp finished, he executed a few tai chi moves and walked out of the room without saying goodbye. A shaken Mosley figured that his family’s dark past had torpedoed him again. But it hadn’t: he was hired and ended up running Palantir’s UK business.

Another entry for the 'Tech billionaires don't understand the science fiction that influenced them' files.
Text from Mother Jones article: "Embryo selection is just the start of what some tech billionaires envision. At the “IVF clinic of the future,” Coinbase’s Armstrong mused in a post on X, multiple technologies will be combined for absolute offspring optimization. Using in vitro gametogenesis, he wrote, technicians will be able to generate thousands of eggs from a client’s blood or skin cells. Once those eggs are fertilized, the client will be able to screen the embryos and pick a favorite, whose DNA can then be edited as desired. Even surrogacy won’t be necessary, Armstrong predicted, because artificial wombs will allow fetuses to develop without “the risk/burden of pregnancy.” He dubbed this medley the “Gattaca stack,” perhaps forgetting that the protagonist of the 1997 dystopian classic was a nongenetically optimized “in-valid,” gestated in his mother’s womb."

Given the mention of Eisenhower's military-industrial complex speech by a tech guy, would have loved to have seen @jacobsilverman.com point out another part of that speech that rarely gets quoted (screencapped from my own article 'The Technocratic Conspiracy')...
Screencap of text from an article titled "The Technocratic Conspiracy": "President Dwight Eisenhower’s famous farewell address in 1961 has often been quoted for its warning about the grave implications of the establishment of a “military-industrial complex”. Few people who have cited it however have noted that Eisenhower’s warning was not just about the military-industrial complex, but also the possible future dangers of a technocracy: “Akin to, and largely responsible for the sweeping changes in our industrial-military posture,” Eisenhower stated, “has been the technological revolution during recent decades… In holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.”

63 years on from Eisenhower’s warning, that danger has become manifest." https://www.dailygrail.com/2024/10/the-technocratic-conspiracy-how-tech-tycoons-plan-to-disrupt-democracy-and-become-the-new-rulers-of-the-world

The Peter Thiel force is strong in this one... (Excerpt below is from Peter Thiel's infamous 2009 Cato Unbound essay, "The Education of a Libertarian".)
Article excerpt: "The 1920s were the last decade in American history during which one could be genuinely optimistic about politics. Since 1920, the vast increase in welfare beneficiaries and the extension of the franchise to women — two constituencies that are notoriously tough for libertarians — have rendered the notion of “capitalist democracy” into an oxymoron."
