Good morning. Not thrilled to be back at work but doing my best. My hair looked nice in the sun earlier.

Pretty sure this is just storytelling, not a specific reference. But oh gosh isn't Lego Alec's curl of hair so cute?
A Lego Alec (with a reaaaaally cute curl of hair) sits on the floor and assembles a tiiiiny Lego Jerry. In the background is a large Lego "Jerry" nameplate, as we're actually looking at the surface of Jerry's desk.

Annette @weeble.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
I think this part might be a Pi reference. He's frantically doing equations on a notepad while energetic drum and bass music plays.
Alec scribbling furiously on a notepad while holding a Lego Jerry in one hand. He is focused intently. A larger Lego Jerry lies face-down in the table in front of him.

Alec attempts to speak to the camera, but only guitar noises come out of his mouth. Feels kinda Twilight Zone? Not sure if just surreal or a specific reference.
Alec in his workshop, holding a Jerry in one hand, leaning towards the camera to speak. In the background we can see some of his previous models, including a swarm of butterflies and a guitar. His desk is cluttered with packaging and storage for a model in construction.

I don't think the pole-vaulter is a reference, just a cool model. There's an Office Space reference in the background that was introduced in a previous video.
A Lego office-worker pole-vaulting with a large Lego ballpoint pen, flexing as he plants it in the ground. In the background another figure flies through the air with a baseball bat, assaulting a printer.

Master Model Builder Alec introduces himself as Alexander, president and CEO of General Jerry Dynamics. Has a touch of Cave Johnson, a sort of 50s "we had the boys in the lab whip something up" kind of vibe.
Alec (not made out of Lego this time) stands in a featureless concrete corridor wearing a white lab coat over a grey shirt and black tie. He's gesturing towards the on-screen overlay, which says "General Jerry Dynamics".

This one is introduced as "the mother Jerry". What's the black and white portrait here?
A normal-looking Lego office-worker oversees everything from a raised vantage point, lit by ominous green light. At his feet is a black (grey? dark green?) and white abtract Lego painting of a face. It has a dark red quarter-circle in each corner to make a nice frame.

A reference to The Thing? A transporter accident?
A horrific amalgam of two Lego office workers. It scuttles along the floor like a spider, limbs splayed in all directions, a second head erupting from its back, a phone clip for a face.

One is trying to write "help mot..." while another erases it. Not really sure what the message was supposed to be?
A Lego figure strides across a piece of paper with a large Lego pencil, erasing the word "help" that was written there.A Lego office worker leans on a giant Lego pencil to write on the paper. It seems to have written "mot" in cursive.

Here the Jerries are constructing (or dismantling?) a clone.
Two Lego office workers assemble a third. They all have the same colour scheme: a muted jade-green shirt, light brown trousers and a black belt with a grey phone clip. They all have short brown hair with male-pattern baldness.

Annette @weeble.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
The phone-clip monolith has to be a 2001: A Space Odyssey reference. Skeleton minifig is a cute stand-in for the animal bone.
In the foreground of this chaotic scene, an office worker swings a skeleton minifig (about a quarter of his height) at a huge grey oblong slab. Another Lego office worker sits on the ground holding his hands to his ears to block out the incessant and pervasive drone.

Sacrifice of office equipment to the giant Jerry... The giant Jerry I think is from a previous prank on Jerry. Generic cultist thing or a specific reference?
Little Lego office workers kneel while a black-robed figure sets fire to a paper shredder with a flaming pencil, overseen by an enormous Lego office worker in an office chair.

She is a terror.
A green-haired white rabbit-child with a riotous grin leaps through the air, hurling shiny black cartoon bombs in all directions. Annette playing Roman Sands. It's got a very vaporwave colour-scheme, all cyan and magenta. An anime-girl is lit in cold pink light, grinning strangely. She wears some kind of resort polo shirt. Purple tubing coils behind her as if a snake. Behind her some deck-chairs overlook the ocean. The Thinky Dailies logo is also overlaid in the corner.

I'm reading this and thinking....
A teen boy with short light brown hair says "Wait, you guys are getting a choice of subjects?" with "a choice of subjects" crudely edited into place. It's an edit of a scene and popular meme where he originally says "Wait, you guys are getting paid?"

Do I have any Glasgow friends free on Saturday who want to try out a photo scavenger hunt around the city centre? It's a bit rough and I have probably miscalibrated the difficulty. I have not done a thing like this before and this is kind of a playtest.
Game Rules
Objective
The object of the game is, as part of a team, to find and replicate photographs which were taken around Glasgow, in a limited space of time.
Play zone
The play zone is a quadrilateral drawn between the center of George Square, the midpoint in the river between the South Portland Street Suspension Bridge and the Victoria Bridge, the Tidal Weir at Glasgow Green, and High Street train station, marked in red and labelled with a bird. (An image illustrates this. The red silhouette of a small perching bird marks the middle of the region.)
Goal photographs
Each player will receive the same sheet of 36 photographs at the start of the day. All the photographs were taken somewhere in the play zone.(The goal photographs paragraph is illustrated with an example sheet. A six by six grid of square photos uses the letters G through L and 7 through 12. It is marked prominently with the text "EXAMPLE".)
Teams
Players may form teams of any size.
Mascots
Every team will be given a soft toy as a mascot. You may bring your own. Your team may only have one mascot. Mascots will receive participation ribbons.
Taking photographs
You must try to recreate as many of the goal photographs as you can, with your team mascot in frame, wearing its ribbon. You must match the framing of the photographs, including the same major background or foreground elements, such as buildings, statues or street signs. Your mascot does not need to be in focus.
Navigation and exploration
You may use Google Maps or an equivalent service for search and navigation. You may not click into the "photos" tab or scroll to view photos beyond those that first appear on screen when viewing a search result.
You may not use Street View or any equivalent service.A map of Glasgow city centre from OpenStreetMap. It has been overlaid with four coloured quadrants: yellow with a bell centred around Sauchiehall Street, green with a tree around the Strathclyde and City College campuses, red with a bird around the merchant city, and blue with a fish around central station.

I survived! The hairdresser was very patient. I think I may have come across more neurodivergent than I would normally appear. I made it through the hairdryer without earplugs but she made sure I knew I could ask to pause at any time.
Annette in a hair salon, with a black towel on her hair held by a big pink clip, and a black poncho with "RRI" printed on it in a modern stylised logo. The colour scheme is very black and white with just the pale green of some frosted glass and the red bottles of the hair products in contrast.Annette outside in front of dense foliage made up of long glossy green leaves in radial bursts. Her hair is shiny and straight, and pretty much as long as ever. She has about an inch of dark brown roots going into deep red hair that's slightly orange.

Uh huh. Uh huh. Useful stuff here Google. Glad I had you around to answer these questions.
Question
Are you joking

Answer
No, I am completely serious. Moomins do not have defined fingers; they are drawn with simple, rounded, mitten-like paws.
In Tove Jansson's original sketches and comics, their hands usually look like smooth, pillowy stubs. When they hold things like a paintbrush or a coffee cup, they just clasp them between these rounded paws.
The confusion often comes from other characters in the universe, or from animated versions where artists had to make hand movements look natural without giving them actual human fingers.
If you want, I can find some original illustrations or animation clips to show you exactly how their hands are drawn. Would you like to see how they look in the books or the animated shows?

Question
I don't believe you. Show me a picture.

Answer
As you can see in Tove Jansson's illustrations, Moomintroll and his family are drawn with smooth, rounded, mitten-like limbs that do not have distinct, individual fingers.

There follow four pictures of moomins that all have clearly defined fingers. They have four fingers and a thumb on each hand. Some are more scribbled than others, but all have fingers and in almost all cases it's easy to see the number of fingers is the same as a human. The answer continues below the pictures.

When waving, holding things, or hugging, their paws simply terminate in smooth curves or a single line rather than segmented digits. This soft, minimalist anatomy is a defining feature of how the Moomin trolls look.
Would you like to look at illustrations of any other creatures in Moominvalley, or are you curious about how they manage to hold objects in the comic strips without fingers?

Question
How many fingers are in the first picture there.

Answer
There are zero individual fingers shown on the Moomin in that picture.
If you look closely at the shape of Moomintroll on the cover of All About Moomin, his arm finishes in a smooth, continuous curve that looks like a round mitten or a small paw, completely lacking any divided fingers.
The character design relies heavily on this simple, pillow-like silhouette, which is why there are no lines dividing the hand into separate digits!
Would you like to zoom in on how other characters in the book (like Snkin or Sniff) are drawn, or would you like to see how Moomin hands are handled when they need to hold small items like keys or a pen?

Good work Google, thanks for helping.

Question
how many fingers does a moomin have

Answer
Moomins do not have clearly defined individual fingers; instead, creator Tove Jansson drew their hands and feet as soft, rounded paws without a specific count of digits.
Anatomy: Moomins are soft, round trolls rather than precise humanoids, meaning their limbs end in simple, impressionistic paw-like shapes.
Drawings: In Tove Jansson’s original illustrations and comic strips, you will see simple lines or smooth curves for their hands rather than distinct fingers.
Common Confusion: People sometimes confuse Moomins with Hattifatteners—the silent, ghost-like creatures from the books—which do have five quivering, finger-like appendages on each side.
If you want, let me know:
Which Moomin adaptation (the 90s anime, the recent Moominvalley CGI series, or the books) you are looking at?
If you are curious about the anatomy of other Moominvalley characters (like Sniff or Little My)?I can give you more specific details on how they are drawn.

Question
Are you joking

My enduring memory of Stephen's Sausage Roll is that over and over you'd have an "a-ha" moment where you see what you understand to be the big idea of the level... and then you'd execute it and discover the twist, which was always there for you to see.
"I am a genius" / "oh no!" meme. I think it's a Gundam (giant robot) pilot but it might just be someone in a fighter jet. To be clear, it's overlaid on the official game art.
He Who Watches key art. A shadowy human figure runs along the wall of a surreal labyrinth in a purple void, watched by an enormous purple eye. They have a bow slung over their back and hold one end of a chain that snakes through the air before anchoring into a stone block. The same scene, but the shadowy figure has been replaced by Nettie, a clockwork doll in a black dress with long red hair. She's disoriented and unbalanced by the strange gravity. Some of the people background is blurry where the figure has been edited out, and Nettie's chain arcs through the air a bit more wildly. Backlit, her hair is fiercely gold and orange at the edges.

A cartoon rendering of Morpheus from the Matrix, not doing a great job of mimicking Celeste's art style. Somewhere else.
Madeline: What are you trying to tell me? That I can triple-jump?
Morpheus: No Madeline. I'm trying to tell you that when you're ready, you won't have to.
[On close inspection, Morpheus' sunglasses reflect an image of Madeline in one lens and the Spelunky damsel in the other pointing a shotgun at her. It's barely visible. The text boxes are drawn in the style of the in-game dialog in Celeste.]

Oh, we found where the VERY HARD puzzles live.
The level select screen from Point Blank, saying "Shoot to select!" and presenting a choice of four games, except all the games shown are screenshots from Big Walk. Three are promotional screenshots from the press-kit: colourful stick figures climbing on each others' shoulders to reach a crane, holding up cards with symbols on them behind soundproof glass, and sitting on the walkway into a shrek-coloured cylindrical house on stilts. The fourth, however, is on fire, covered in the text "VERY HARD" and shows a bunch of the stick figures sleeping in a room with a purple doll in a vice. Also on screen are three hearts for lives, a countdown timer at "5", a blue button saying "Try playing against your opponent!" and "CREDIT 1" in green. The background shows a blue sky and a blue-green sea.
