Do I have any Glasgow friends free on Saturday who want to try out a photo scavenger hunt around the city centre? It's a bit rough and I have probably miscalibrated the difficulty. I have not done a thing like this before and this is kind of a playtest.

Game Rules
Objective
The object of the game is, as part of a team, to find and replicate photographs which were taken around Glasgow, in a limited space of time.
Play zone
The play zone is a quadrilateral drawn between the center of George Square, the midpoint in the river between the South Portland Street Suspension Bridge and the Victoria Bridge, the Tidal Weir at Glasgow Green, and High Street train station, marked in red and labelled with a bird. (An image illustrates this. The red silhouette of a small perching bird marks the middle of the region.)
Goal photographs
Each player will receive the same sheet of 36 photographs at the start of the day. All the photographs were taken somewhere in the play zone.

(The goal photographs paragraph is illustrated with an example sheet. A six by six grid of square photos uses the letters G through L and 7 through 12. It is marked prominently with the text "EXAMPLE".)
Teams
Players may form teams of any size.
Mascots
Every team will be given a soft toy as a mascot. You may bring your own. Your team may only have one mascot. Mascots will receive participation ribbons.
Taking photographs
You must try to recreate as many of the goal photographs as you can, with your team mascot in frame, wearing its ribbon. You must match the framing of the photographs, including the same major background or foreground elements, such as buildings, statues or street signs. Your mascot does not need to be in focus.
Navigation and exploration
You may use Google Maps or an equivalent service for search and navigation. You may not click into the "photos" tab or scroll to view photos beyond those that first appear on screen when viewing a search result.
You may not use Street View or any equivalent service.

It occurred to me that "searing hot seatbelt in a hot car" was a vivid and recurring memory from my childhood that I just don't experience now as an adult who doesn't drive. There are seatbelts, and cars, and hot days... but never that combination.

I struggle to parse these political cartoons. Like, is the tour guide sympathetic to the fascists or not? Are the tapestry creators? Are the enforcers paying attention to what she's saying? I just don't really understand who's being lampooned or why.

Where does newsagent/corner store Pepsi Max come from and why is it so much worse than supermarket Pepsi Max? It's printed with "Made in GB" so it seems it's not imported from a different market. But it tastes bad and it's bad in consistently the same way.

Strongly recommend this if you like puzzles and secrets. Play it unspoiled. (Yeah, don't watch me stream it. 😭) Discovering and making sense of the strange mechanics feels superb. I love the mix of interpreting what the game is showing me, what it's telling me, and what I can learn by experiment.

Streaming in about 20 minutes, once I have had some food. He Who Watches is an intriguing 3D puzzle game... hints of Sokoban, but first-person and you walk on walls. If I have time and energy to spare I'll maybe play more Nier: Automata after.

Oh, we found where the VERY HARD puzzles live.

The level select screen from Point Blank, saying "Shoot to select!" and presenting a choice of four games, except all the games shown are screenshots from Big Walk. Three are promotional screenshots from the press-kit: colourful stick figures climbing on each others' shoulders to reach a crane, holding up cards with symbols on them behind soundproof glass, and sitting on the walkway into a shrek-coloured cylindrical house on stilts. The fourth, however, is on fire, covered in the text "VERY HARD" and shows a bunch of the stick figures sleeping in a room with a purple doll in a vice. Also on screen are three hearts for lives, a countdown timer at "5", a blue button saying "Try playing against your opponent!" and "CREDIT 1" in green. The background shows a blue sky and a blue-green sea.

Regrettably, Lakitus in rows one and two were jailed for a year for the coordinated upskirting of Princess Peach. Those in rows three through five successfully argued they were unaware of the plan.

Is there any way to pull out the raw data here? As far as I can tell, the sodding map symbols are rendered on the server, and although you can click on them to get more information, the detection of what you clicked on also happens on the server. glasgowgis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappv...

Does Python's destructuring pattern-matching only work in the new match/case block? Like, I can destructure a sequence in a regular assignment: a, **bs, c = [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6] # now a is 1, bs is [2,3,4,5], c is 6. But I think I need a match for anything else?

I really want to read some *good* criticism of Diceware. Like, we did a study and this does not even produce passwords that are any easier to remember or type, people take four times as long staring blankly at the password field. Maybe it's just perfect but I don't believe it.
