the problem is they do but they see us complaining as the problem as opposed to the things we’re complaining about

love the masshole having time to sit with his position and being like: well, actually i might be wrong on this. one of the hardest parts of advocating for change is supporting people who‘ve hurt others in their growth but it’s often necessary if we want to help try it in more places

"The order of the president of the United States I think fairly read expresses the view that transgender citizens don't exist," Judge Young told a DOJ attorney. "Please tell me I'm wrong." DOJ lawyer: "I can't."

being so fr when I say that transmisogyny has put feminism back like 50 years

seravph
what i thought we had distanced ourselves from was the reduction of women to vaginas and wombs and the ability to bear children. i thought we had progressed past 'dresses are for women and pants are for men. i thought we progressed past the idea that someone is less of a woman if she does not adhere strictly to beauty standards. i thought we progressed past the idea that naturally being comfortable adhering to highly feminine standards is vulgar. but i (sarcastically) guess no one could have predicted that trans-exclusive feminism would be the downfall of all the progress we've made

I don't think people really understand the psychic impact of knowing that multiple times a day every day your friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, and everyone who could ever have any power over you is being flooded with agitprop designed to make them hate you

In Massachusetts, we have a responsibility to protect the vulnerable and stand up for those who need it. We don’t throw trans kids under the bus for political points. We protect them—and all of our neighbors—because trans rights are human rights.

my latest: Massachusetts is one of the safest states for trans people—but multiple hospitals preemptively ended youth trans care over Trump admin threats to cut fed funding. on Wed, trans activists took their HRT at a govt office and refused to leave without a commitment to fight those hospitals.

Even in safe-haven Massachusetts, trans care is at risk. Young people are fighting to protect it
Activists are calling on the state attorney general to take action against hospitals that have ended gender-affirming care programs after Trump retook office

And as always, like I tell any baby trans woman, Enes and Royce unfortunately you’re going to have to prove your womanhood to the state and sports leagues now you say you’re a woman. If you need resources let’s talk: www.sfchronicle.com/sports/artic...

I appreciate you highlighting this. I hate when people mock people “coming out”, even in an obviously manipulative or fake way? it feels like the cis are frothing for an opportunity to yell “tranny” at someone and get away with it. what is the message someone actually baby will take from that?

my problem with "teenage sex & death at camp miasma" is it's probably really cathartic and fulfilling for someone who is just starting to figure their whole deal out but there's not a lot in it for those of us who started murdering teenagers at a remote summer camp more than a decade ago

I have not seen enough people talking about Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma because it’s maybe one of my favorite movies of all time. teenage me would have been emotionally destroyed by that movie

When I think about trans people in sports, I don’t think about lobbies or legislation. I think about my friends. Wrote about pick-up hoops, queer community and love:

Column: When I think about transgender people in sports, I think about my friends
Despite the rabid fixation upon the concept of trans women in sports, those who beat the drum the loudest for exclusive policies rarely seem to care about trans people themselves.

people should read “Letter to my Transgender Daughter”! but also it’s abhorrent that we routinely remove kids from queer/black/poc safe parents over false claims, and I am very sorry this happened to him and his husband

please ask them about their support of trans massachusan’s access to healthcare, equal rights in schools and sports, etc. Moulton has been historically flip flopped on some of this, and as Mass has now lost 3 providers of best practice youth trans medicine it has never been more important

That's why I always make the point that trans people are the ones with the most stake in whether our healthcare is safe and effective. If it was dangerous or ineffective it would be our lives on the line. News coverage largely fails to recognize that or even nod in that direction.

I'm so thankful to Becky and her mom for their trust, generosity, and strength in front of the Supreme Court. No matter what the Court says, Becky is a hero for standing up for herself and trans girls like her. Doing what's right, even when the odds are against you, is the definition of courage.

I feel like the only thing that really works for is when we narrow the road with the granite curbs so it’s the minimum possible width. We either force drivers to drive 20mph or we agree they will drive 50mph through our squares
a car crashed into a building in davis square. the damage to the car means it was likely going very fast in a 20mph speed zone.
