Back at it in Getafe! Interesting shape from Reading so far - kinda lining up in a 3421 that crunches down in to a 4231 also at times. This has to be the deepest I've seen Lane play for Reading Ben and I will be live streaming and doing a pod recording session for the second half of this game!

I ran some napkin maths on Leam Richardson's first 16 games of 2026 Average xG for of 0.88 for Leam vs 1.16 (still not great) for Noel Hunt in the first 16 games of 2025 I criticized Noel a lot during and after that period so what does this say about Leam? Simple - He doesn't know what he's doing

Seeing #readingfc START in a 4-2 or 2-4 buildup when low far more since the new full backs have joined. Gives Reading some flexibility to beat the press The key though, as seen in the last frame is that Roberts has a trigger to leave the buildup and head into wide space as a target for a long ball

I really do think Dorsett has been one of the most reliable players for #readingfc in 25/26 He's obviously not attack minded so Leam has found him a role that suits in the 3-2 buildup, and without the ball, he is statistically the best defensive dueler in the team Most improved in 2025 for sure
