We took the puppies out for an adventure today. There have been so many vet trips in the last 6 months or so that we decided they needed to get in the car for something fun. We ended up at Indian Creek Reservoir, where Kippy and I got married and where Ginger treed a bobcat the last time we visited.

I took a ride in the hills above our neighborhood this afternoon. The remains of a storm are still trying to get over the mountains, and the wildflowers are amazing.

@kippy.geminai.com and I went for a snowshoe hike along the river in Hope Valley yesterday and an drive over Carson Pass. Here are a few of the photos I got.

Today's view from where I work.

Kippy (@kippy.geminai.com) and I spent a last weekend in Aptos, California and stayed really close to The Forest of Nisene Marks State Park, Rio del Mar State Beach, and Seacliff State Beach. Here are some of my favorite photos from the trip.

The main stage at the Northern Nevada Pride festival in Reno. It's hot and bright, but I'm having a good time.

A little over a year ago I could not run half a mile and really hadn't run in over 30 years. This morning I ran 10k (6.21 miles) nonstop. I wasn't very fast (pretty slow, actually), but I did it without walking. 📷 of me by @kippy.geminai.com who rode her bike around the park while I ran.

This morning I completed a Garmin training program and ran a 5k (not an official race, just a course I mapped out in my neighborhood and ran by myself). I wasn't fast, but I ran the entire thing. On Monday I start a similar training program for a 10k.

I'm calling this "Waiting for Spectrum to sort things out". Yes, I have a full-length 12u server cabinet in my home. I'm a sys/net admin, don't judge.

Cedar, Ginger, and I went for a walk this morning and stopped along the way to get a photo of one of our neighbors. I think this is a coopers hawk.

At lunch today I went and hung out with several hundred noisy people with flags and signs at the state capitol in Carson City. There was a lot of shouting and honking and various forms of hand waving, much more seemed to be in support of the protesters than not.

This morning we went up into the mountains to play in the snow. It's been a fairly dry winter so far, with only a fraction of the normal amount of snow, but a reasonably big storm came through last week and we took advantage of it.

Another quiet evening. It's not really this bright, but I bumped it up a little in post so you could more easily see Cedar on the couch to my right.

Here's the bow of mine...

The bow of a wooden kayak in shallow water over a sandy and pebbled bottom. There is a striped lighthouse lighthouse design on it made from mother of pearl and ipe (a dark wood also called Brazilian walnut) with a brass star representing the beacon. The lighthouse appears to sit on an 8 pointed compass made from ash and walnut burl and there is a stripe of patinaed copper across the bow representing the land and sea below the lighthouse. Under the design it says "A ship in the harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for."
