Dabbling with context a bit on this Banditos logo here. I've been told that putting a logo in it's proper context helps a lot, but my photoshop skills still need some work.

A portfolio piece. This Vastcat logo is based on my own cat, Lilly. She walked into my office one day, sat just like that all fluffy and wide, and proceeded to yell at me until I stopped doing graphic design and instead spent the next fifteen minutes of my day petting her.

Trying out a new logo presentation method. It seems like a better way to show off my work.

Still trying to sort out the best way to present my work publicly. These little squares were a bit of a necessity since I started posting regularly on Instagram a few years ago, and I do like them, but I also feel like they can lack context.

Talaria - a Grecian-inspired winged, sandal-clad foot.

A low-poly maple leaf in bright yellow and orange gradients.

The same maple leaf shape as previous, but with the gradients removed and shown in black and white.

One day I hope to be able to match Joy's level of sleep comfort. She just melts into wherever she lands.

Joy, a very fluffy white ragdoll cat, enjoying an afternoon nap in a divot on the top of a sofa.

Rare picture of most of our pets all in one shot. The goldens and ragdolls hanging out by the door.

Two golden retrievers and two ragdoll cats relaxing on a rug and a tile floor, near a screen door.

I recently made a redesign of the logo of the French football club RC Lens. It's not a 'fix' exactly, I don't dislike the current crest, but if they were to pursue a different look then this could be a route for them.

An alternative take on the new mark with the word Lens at the top of the shield.

I recently took a look back at my oldest bits of work. Shocking how far along I've come in the past few years.

The Kirtland's Warbler is a fairly common local bird here in Michigan. Some folks were trying to make it the new state bird. It's slow sledding.

The homework continues. Though the Gorp logo never fails to make me hungry for some trail mix.

An angry sausage cartoon mascot character.

A gnome with a bulbous nose and a big, bushy beard.

A badge for the as far as I know fictional Newberry Sports Club. The town of Newberry, Michigan is known as the Moose Capital of Michigan, so one sits central in this design.

I use Inkscape for a huge majority of my graphic design work. It's free, open source, and has no AI integration. Which is great for me since I tend to find generative AI to be more of a hindrance than anything else.

"Bad Dog No Biscuit" depicts a dog being unable to bite into a biscuit.

"Tennis Club Down Under" text surrounding a tennis ball. Also a couple of seven-pointed stars in there.

"Cardinal Direction" Bird shape, arrow - it's pretty easy to understand this one.

Decided to try doing some movie poster designs. These are fake movies, and the actors and directors are also made up. Don't bother trying to look them up. It'll just send you down some weird rabbit holes.

A poster depicting a woman holding a lantern.

The text near the top reads "From the visionary director of Death Beret and The Get You Man". "Lanterness". "Based on actual events".

Near the bottom is more text reading "Coming soon. Only in theaters."

A poster of a man standing in a field of flowers.

The text reads as follows, starting from the top.

"From the director of The Hopping Woman and the producers of Smelly Sadboy 2"

"Taras Svatok is DOING JUST DANDY"

"Featuring Henrietta Chalmers, Benito Fernandez, Lord Jimbo Smith IV, with Eliza Hooper and Three Children in an Overcoat."

A lone man stands before a sickly yellow sky, with electrical pylons in the distance.

The text here reads - "Umar Aribo" "Soulcatcher" "A film by Ekeson Adekunie".

A poster depicting an American western cowboy on horseback, along with a dog, standing in a desert in front of a setting sun. Lot's of typography here, so let's take it from the top.

"This Fall, Mateo Villareal returns in"

"The Battle of Coffin Creek"

"Also starring Cata Garcia, Padro Santos, Lloyd Lake, George Smith, Dustin "Badlands" Bader, and introducing Rosie Snapper-Jones."

"Directed by Fedirico Pirla".

A bit more fun with book cover design.

"Out Of Body" depicting a ghostly woman.

"Butcheress" is a shiny cover with a window frame at it's center. Beyond it is a strange landscape made of blackened meat.

"Hyper Space Hyper Crimes, Baby!" This cover depicts the meandering path of a little rocket ship that is spilling gems and jewels as it zips along.

"Lady In Waiting" This book cover features a close-up on a woman's face, made of teal green stone and crossed with bits of metal.

Throwing up some more book cover designs. It's for fun.

A poster showing two people traveling in a boat under a massive sun. The title reads "Row Thy King".

A book cover depicting a golden chandelier with an elongated shadow. It looked to me like a meteor falling from the sky. Title reads 'Wealthfall'.

A woman reclining against a stone wall. Title is 'Dark Daze'.

Title is 'Burd'. There is a bird on it. I am not sure what the bird is, but it looks upset.

Here are some more practice book covers. Definitely not at the point where I'm taking money for this kind of work, but it is a good way to get acclimated to more tools.

"The Wheel in the Fog" - this cover depicts barely visible ferris wheel rising out of a thick forest.

"Future Proof" - this cover shows a woman in a black hooded cloak and sneakers standing in front of a vintage car, itself in front of a wall lined with barbed wire.

"Nothing To See Here" - this cover depicts a document with the title superimposed on redaction bars.

"Hard To Kiln" - A cover depicting a human face made of clay.

My continued adventures in book cover design are going... I can't say well exactly. They are certainly going though.

A desaturated, ethereal beach with waves lapping against the sand. The title overlayed on top reads 'Seaside Sunshine Emmeline'.

A crude drawing of a horse wearing a racing mask adorned with little stars. Above it is the title, 'Honse'.

The title of this book reads 'SVAN', all caps, in two layers over top of a colorized negative of a mountain range.

An inverted, colorful field of flowers over an empty sky where the title sits - 'The Second Summer of Love'.

A few fresh-ish pieces of my logo design work. #logo #logodesign

A lowercase L and a lowercase R placed one above the other, intended to look like a stylized human hand with only the index finger pointed up.

A pair of gourds with the one in front visibly missing it's core.

A metal briefcase with a diamond design at it's center.

The word "Gnome" written in a graffiti-inspired style.

Tried making some book covers. Since I am still figuring out illustration, I had to rely on typography and various free stuff I found on the internet.

A white cover with a smear of dark blue paint across the top half. Title reads "Opus".

A weathered yellow and orange book cover with a depiction of a sun. Title reads "Sun Dogs".

A cover with a knitted pattern showing a woman standing on a pile of rocks, staring out over the ocean. Title reads "Yarn Over Coos", with the tagline "Chain stitch your life back together."

A black cover with a green and purple snake. Title is "Serpentine", with the tagline "Keep your friends close".

Decided to try out a new art style with the cloudy fellow there. #logo #logodesign

The cloudy form of a mascot head with googly eyes and a button nose.

A series of triangles and circular shapes forming a face. I think it looks like a smiling pig.

A shape containing both the uppercase letter N, as well as the number 2.

Big, blocky letters reading GG. Big fan of block letters and bold, thick lines here.

Will Simpson @wdsimp.bsky.social · 04/12/2025

Here are some highlights from my recent homework posts over on instagram. At least, ones that I like for one reason or another. #logo #logodesign

Text reading 'Ruz Putz' with a pink ghost, a pink and green pill, and some little pink spots. Very Pac-Man inspired, this one. Can not remember what the text was supposed to mean.

A diagonally-cut black and white sporting club badge with gold trim. It reads "OX" vertically, with a 25 below it. That's typically where the year of the club's founding is put on badges like these.

Please enjoy this new set of neat logos. #logo #logodesign

A block letter Z with a needle forming the center line.

The word "Holt" formed into a circular structure, with the capital H on the left, the o in the center, and the L and T on the right.

An 8 with multiple daisies forming the central holes, along with a lowercase s.

A capital letter U sitting behind two mint leaves.

I like to experiment with the backgrounds on these from time to time. #logo #logodesign

A cartoon chipmunk along with several stars and the text 'Chip-Punk' on a sticker, stuck to a brick wall under a spotlight.

The disembodied head of a man with a long, shaggy beard and a pair of sunglasses.

A shield depicting a stylized set of piano keys, over a marble background.

Pancake Pagoda - A stack of pancakes with decorative elements meant to mimic a pagoda.

Super Mecha Milk Tea - A disposable milk tea cup shaped like a robot's head.

Up in the middle of the night so I'm going to sling out some fun wordmarks. #logo #logodesign

Lettering spelling the word Palette, with the letter P dotted with various colors so that it looks like a painters palette.

Grin Tam, which translates to Green Thumb, in vaguely the shape of a thumb.

Big, blocky lettering reading 'Jacobi Destroy', along with a pair of hands pointing fingers.

He/Hem, thin and with the slash in the center replaced with a needle, with a bit of thread through it. I did also do an alternate They/Hem version, but that is not posted here.

I have been posting practice logos on Instagram near daily for the past year. But with the direction that Meta is going right now, I'm not inclined to continue there and am left with a bit of a backlog. So, here are a few pieces of my work. #logo #logodesign

I know the saying goes 'don't judge a book by it's cover', but I absolutely do. I bought the book I'm reading right now, A Psalm for the Wild Built by Becky Chambers, in no small part because the cover looks neat.

The cover of the book "A Psalm for the Wild Built" by Becky Chambers, depicting a robot and a monk on a winding, verdant path.

Hello people of Bluesky, As I've never really gotten the hang of introductions, I will instead follow the lead of my discover page and post a picture of one of my cats. Her name is Lilly and she is an eight year old rescue ragdoll who spends about half of her time sleeping on my bed.

A very fluffy cat, half-asleep, flopped over sideways on a thick blanket.
