Just a reminder that Anne Frank wasn't executed in a death camp. She was deported and kept in squalid, overcrowded conditions, which likely led to her contracting typhus and dying (though we don't have a definitive cause of death.) The Nazi regime was still 100% culpable.

My favorite thing about Mamdani's win is that he looks to have won an actual MAJORITY of votes with the biggest turnout in years. Cuomo can cry about Sliwa and Adams all he wants, but more than half of NYC's voters CHOSE Mamdani. Even if Cuomo got every single other vote, he'd lose. Beauty.

Lethal force against a civilian vessel in international waters is a war crime if not in self-defense. If not in self-defense, only non-lethal actions, such as warning shots or disabling fire, are allowed. "Not yielding to pursuers" or "suspected of carrying drugs" doesn't carry a death sentence.

My hot AI take is that it should be illegal for an AI chatbot to describe itself in first person with "I/we" pronouns. It ascribes a level of agency and intention that the AI simply does not have. It's misleading and exploitative of people who are vulnerable and lonely.
