We’d cry about it but when this is all over I wonder if some of those leases may go to the power that actually cares about stability in the region, China

Even if these were completely untouched is there any amount of interceptors that would make you want to park a nuclear aircraft carrier at a port in the gulf?

Yeah if you want to take the whole center off line you’ll have to [redacted]. But you could definitely become a very expensive nuisance to their on site electrical infrastructure. This trick probably only works once and then you’re in federal prison

It’d be really funny if the result of the energy ceasefire was Yandex going offline after those sorties get re assigned to data centers

San Diego’s highest paid city employees? Cops racking up overtime and earning over $400,000
In recent years, dozens of officers worked more than 1,000 hours of overtime annually. Experts say these levels of extra work can lead to accidents and poor decision making in use of force situations.

A lot of rich guys want you to think that the bar on the right is always going to be bigger than the bar on the left.
Vertical bar chart titled "Norwegian wealth tax revenue, change from 2021 to 2024," in billions of Norwegian kroner (BNOK), nominal. Subtitle: top rate 0.85% to 1.1% and stock valuation discount cut from 2022.

Two bars. "Growth with no emigration": 13.71 BNOK, a tall bar. "Lost to reform-driven emigration": 0.65 BNOK, a barely visible stub, about one-twenty-first the height.

Notes: Growth includes the rate and valuation changes and wealth growth. Net of tax that emigrants still paid, the reform-driven loss is 0.49 BNOK.

At this point I’d almost expect the default powertrain to be a hybrid (which is true for some models, but not the norm )

It’s a 2019 so we didn’t put a new car on the road, someone was going to be driving this thing

Run the Joules @wattasecond.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
We basically don’t drive it and it’s the only car for the family. Also we don’t have a great charging setup here Most of the trips are done by the bikes , which the kids are digging. If we put 5k miles on it this year I’ll be surprised.

Run the Joules @wattasecond.bsky.social · 09/10/2026
It’s amazing to me that for all the talk about how hybrids were the superior choice to BEVs, OEMs still don’t really offer that many hybrid models

I think to the extent we see AI productivity gains it’ll be that people will finally use the computer as it was supposed to be and start scripting a lot more repetitive work
110
Run the Joules @wattasecond.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
My crackpot theory is the reason digitalization didn’t really show up in the productivity data is that people basically used the computer like a combination phone and typewriter with additional distraction drag

It worked well for me at the time. My sister stayed with us for a few months and it was nice that someone could just have the run of the upstairs and sleep on the pullout while the bedrooms were downstairs. Basically like a 2.5 bed apartment
