When using a spreadsheet Use the TAB key to move to the right Then when you push the ENTER key it takes you back to the first column (where you started using the Tab key). Makes data entry a lot faster! #KeyTips #GoogleSheets #GoogleEdu #EduSky

Some research papers receive almost no attention for years, even decades, before suddenly becoming highly cited. Bibliometricians call these "Sleeping Beauties." Sometimes the science was ahead of its time; sometimes a new technology or breakthrough makes earlier work suddenly relevant.

Research policy fact: Some studies have found that highly interdisciplinary research can initially receive fewer citations because it doesn't fit neatly into a single academic community. Over time, it can become highly influential. One of the challenges of crossing disciplinary boundaries.

Today I learned that in Siena, Italy, they decorate PhDs with garlands and ribbons and I think they should be adopted worldwide

This philosophy underpins Warwick's PGR Professional Development Framework, which encourages researchers to take an active role in shaping their own professional development throughout the PhD. Learn more: warwick.ac.uk/services/dc/... #HigherEd #Pedagogy #ResearcherDevelopment #PhD

Learner autonomy changes the educator's role. Rather than transmitting knowledge, educators design environments that support reflection, decision-making, feedback and self-regulation. David Little argues that learner autonomy depends on reflection, metacognition and critical self-awareness.

Pedagogically, learner autonomy means learners gradually develop the capacity to: • diagnose their own learning needs • set learning objectives • identify appropriate learning resources • choose learning strategies • monitor their progress • evaluate what they have learned

Learner autonomy is often mistaken for simply giving learners more freedom. In educational theory, it means something much more specific. Henri Holec defined it as "the ability to take charge of one's own learning." 🧵

My colleague VickyPannossian posted that this stage of her PhD was like the 'repotting of a plant'. I love this thought that to grow/ nurture, we need a new pot but we will be taking our earth ( life, knowledge, friends), into our new surroundings to develop further🌼 Note: water your plants #PhDSky

Three stones have been moved and placed outside the bowl. There wasn't lots of water around ( and no reports of earthquakes) , if someone had been in my garden then they probably would have taken something ( like my apples - yup one year). I'm in the UK for reference- Any ideas - anyone??

One bowl is used mostly by the cat ( Horace) and the other ( white and in photo) on a slightly raised platform and is used by birds and insects. Both bowls have stones in them for insects to get at the water. Most wildlife ( and Horace) usually drink out of the river. Coming home 90 mins later...

One suggestion I've found is Ask the question: “Before this person pushed my button, which one of their buttons might I/ survey have pushed?” This allows us to externalise and recognise it as the respondee's problem
