Eh, at most a reset. The FAs at the end of this year aren’t going to make or break the team, assuming you resign Seiya. Someone would give you a lotto ticket for Shōta, you might get a real prospect for Happ if you paid freight. Boyd would bring back the most if healthy. Restock low-A and save $$.

On top of that, he’s top-10 this year in gb% (min 50ip), and that’s entirely the sinker. So yeah, I’m a believer. He’s probably not going to stay a top-20 pitcher, but being a rotation fixture is absolutely sustainable.

I think it has to do with the age of the franchise. The Mariners were young when Alvin was at his peak, and he and Langston were really their two best players of their abbreviated history at the time. Horner was a solid player, but he wasn’t even the best player on his own team.

@baseball-reference.com I was looking at the 2024 draft, and Jac Caglianone’s position is listed as “TWP.” That doesn’t show up in the glossary (or in any of the search drop-downs on the same page). What is TWP? Is it “two-way player?” If so, why isn’t it searchable in the draft search interface?

Where do you find the clips in Savant? That’s always where I get lost. Random example: the attached screenshot is the search result for all of Ian Happ’s right-handed homers for 2025. How do I get from here to seeing clips of each? I feel like I’m missing something obvious. Thanks for the help!

Not sure that saying he was the only one keeping the offense afloat in the second half this year helps your argument. Also, he really only had one bad month this year, and it was July as you said. His sOPS+ was at or above lg avg every other month.

That’s the point I was making about OAA, PCA’s amazing but he also missed three 99% catch probability fly balls resulting in -3 OAA. I can’t find the clip, but at least one of those was when the wind was swirling at 30mph.

I’ll probably regret this, but what is it about him you hate? Statistically he’s a bargain at the price they have him at. By FG’s $$ metric he was worth $3.5mil in surplus value. Is he an annoying presence locally? I’m in Sacramento so I literally only see the games & stat lines, and he’s fine.
