Great article 👇 We have stink pipes in Dulwich Village, on Gallery Rd and there are some in Herne Hill too. Ours are probably from the sewers that culverted tributaries of the River Effra.

South London Press has printed its last issue. Very sad, but not surprising. In later years it only survived thanks to its excellent sports coverage (ironically, in the last week Charlton and the Dons have been promoted and Palace have won the cup!). But many will remember it fondly, including me.

Looking west up Beresford Street to the overbridge carrying the 4-track railway between Elephant & Castle and Loughborough Junction. The bridge carries a large sign painted in black on a white background: SOUTH EASTERN & CHATHAM RAILWAY - WALWORTH ROAD STATION. The station entrance is on the right before the bridge. Two people are stood looking over the bridge parapet, they must be railway workers as the platforms started north of the bridge.
