Marc Elias post about a Washington Post article that praises Todd Blanche. Elias says "I am I am almost without words for what has become of this once proud newspaper.

I will only say this: Support independent media. Subscribe to Democracy Docket."This investigation was originally developed for The New York Times, where it underwent eight months of editing, multiple rounds of fact-checking, and independent replication of the underlying methodology. The piece had a scheduled publication date when requests for comment were sent. It was only after the Times reached out to the subjects of the investigation for routine comment that the Elias Law Group, representing the DCCC and DSCC, sent a cease-and-desist letter demanding the paper not publish. Although the paper’s fact-checkers and legal department later cleared the piece before sending out a second round of requests for comment, the Times ultimately decided to kill the piece.

This is common in the climate/clean energy world because at some point along the way every organization like this decides that focusing on climate or renewable energy is not politically saavy
Our History
Founded in 2001, ACORE was the first organization dedicated to expanding the pan-renewable economy in the United States. For more than two decades, ACORE has sought to unite finance, policy and technology to shape America’s energy future.

Today, our members are responsible for 90% of the booming utility-scale clean energy capacity growth in the U.S. But we are not done. We’re proud to have celebrated two decades of extraordinary growth and are now focused on the next 25 years of critically important efforts to accelerate the deployment of clean energy.

There are some bad drafting choices in this complaint, but the overall story is one of clear retaliation for protected speech. EG this paragraph actually happened--Republicans in congress asked Northwestern why Thrasher still had a job after participating in a protest
80. On March 27, 2025, Committee members Rep. Tim Walberg and Rep. Burgess Owens sent
a letter to President Schill and Chairman Barris reminding Northwestern of the Committee’s
continuing investigation into Northwestern’s “response to antisemitism on its campus.” The letter
complained about Northwestern’s inadequate suppression of speech related to Palestine, including
that the University “recently allowed the return to campus of journalism professor Steven Thrasher .
. .” despite his role at the encampment.

2. I clicked through the link on Loudoun and you have not accurately represented what that article says. Among other things, diesel in VA = 5 large power plants, not 1. And that's as of 2024.
The 10,500 generators attached to data centers in Virginia produce enough pollution to harm public health even if used rarely, according to a new analysis of emissions permits for The Washington Post. Operating them for less than an hour per week, on average, creates the same public health impact as five power plants the size of the large Possum Point gas-fired power station near Quantico, according to the analysis by Virginia Commonwealth University and the University of Washington.

That’s enough to worsen lung and cardiovascular conditions for people in the region and cause at least three premature deaths each year, the analysis found, based on state air permits and reported emissions from the data center owners.

look, you may disagree with graham platner's choice to get a nazi tattoo, but you have to admit he sounds like an idiot talking about the gas tax
“Gasoline prices have reached crisis levels for Mainers, many of whom commute long distances,” Platner said in his plan, which would indefinitely halt taxes on both gasoline and diesel.

"Relying on fossil fuels to fund basic infrastructure does not make sense if we want to reduce fossil fuels used in transportation,” Platner said.

Also he ended up getting a job building the school that he had opposed. Just perfect
"My father lost his herd. There was no milk check. And along came the superintendent of the works building the new high school, so [my father] became a laborer," Edgerton said. "He worked a week and they suddenly found out that farmers really get the job done. So [the superintendent] made him the staging crew leader for the rest of the project.

"So he helped build that school that he voted against."

today I learned that the freedom of speech guy in the meme was a real guy who opposed rebuilding a school after the old one burnt down because it would increase his taxes. this country is so consistent sometimes
Freedom of Speech depicts a scene of a 1942 Arlington town meeting in which Jim Edgerton, the lone dissenter to the town selectmen's announced plans to build a new school, as the old one had burned down,[9] was accorded the floor as a matter of protocol.[10] Edgerton supported the rebuilding process but was concerned about the tax burden of the proposal, as his family farm had been ravaged by disease.[11] A memory of this scene struck Rockwell as an excellent fit for illustrating "freedom of speech", and inspired him to use his Vermont neighbors as models for the entire Four Freedoms series.[12][13]

Periodic reminder that the only actual assassination attempt on a member of the federal judiciary in recent years was perpetrated by a lawyer who shares Sam Alito’s “anti-feminist” ideology
Esther Salas
In 2020, a man disguised as a FedEx delivery driver gained entry to the North Brunswick, New Jersey home of Judge Esther Salas of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and murdered the judge's son, also critically injuring the judge's husband. 16) The suspect was 72-year-old Roy Den Hollander, a self-proclaimed "anti-feminist" lawyer who had appeared before Salas and was dissatisfied with the disposition of his case. Hollander was discovered dead the next day of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. (17) The FBI matched Hollander's gun to the murder of a rival lawyer who represented a men's rights group in California, and police found a list of other potential targets, including three more female judges. 16)

Lobbying work
In 2019, after her final term as Florida attorney general, Bondi was hired by Ballard Partners and she began working as a registered foreign agent and lobbyist for Qatar.[47] Her work with Qatar was related to anti-human-trafficking efforts in advance of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.[48][49] She left the Qatari project in 2019 to work in a temporary position for the White House Counsel for President Trump's first impeachment proceedings.[48]

As a partner at Ballard Partners, she also became a lobbyist for KGL KSCC, a company incorporated in Kuwait.[50] Bondi was lobbying for the Kuwaiti company to help with a case of claimed extortion.[51] During her time at Ballard Partners, Bondi lobbied for for-profit prison operator GEO Group, Amazon, Uber, General Motors, the Florida Sheriffs Association and others.[52]

D. John Sauer should not be welcomed back to any of these universities for talks, honors, etc. He should be a pariah (he'll probably be invited to give Harvard Law's commencement speech next year)
Screenshot of text:

Sauer graduated from Duke University in 1997 with a double Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering, summa cum laude. He won a Rhodes Scholarship to study in England at the University of Oxford, where he earned a second Bachelor of Arts in theology from Oriel College, Oxford, in 1999.[4][5] After receiving a Master of Arts in philosophy from the University of Notre Dame in 2000, Sauer then attended Harvard Law School. He was an articles editor of the Harvard Law Review and graduated in 2004 with a Juris Doctor, magna cum laude.[6]

Yet again thinking about the CHKN crypto coin created by a candidate for Illinois comptroller (responsible for the state's fiscal accounts and investments). She named it after her back yard chickens.
SPRINGFIELD — Months before Lake County Treasurer Holly Kim announced her bid for Illinois comptroller, she used about $8,300 in previously contributed campaign funds to invest in a cryptocurrency she founded called CHKN token — a digital asset inspired by her backyard flock of chickens.

By the end of 2025, the investment — totaling roughly 8.87 million tokens — had lost nearly all its value, dropping to just $34.59, according to filings with the Illinois State Board of Elections.
