As we say goodbye to 2025 and welcome 2026, we’re taking a moment to reflect on everything we accomplished together. This year brought challenges, but it also showed—once again—that when the Building Trades stand united, there’s nothing we can’t take on.

In Olympia, our office is on the ancestral homelands of the dxʷsqʷaliʔabš (Nisqually), sqʷax̌sədabš (Squaxin), and Stl’pulmsh (Cowlitz) peoples, whose care for these waters and forests since time immemorial continues to sustain life today.

It’s also a day to recognize that men face unique mental health challenges, including a much higher risk of suicide. Reaching out, checking in, and supporting each other can make a life-changing difference.

Amber's murder at the hands of her co-worker is a wake-up call about the real danger of harassment, hostility, and unchecked violence on job sites. We must honor Amber by doing everything we can to create safer and more respectful workplaces for women and all.

Construction workers face some of the highest rates of stress, depression, and suicide. We must continue to break the silence and remind each other: you’re not alone, and it’s okay to ask for help. Let’s look out for one another, on and off the job site.

By signing an executive order requiring PLAs on critical infrastructure projects over $35M, the Governor has reaffirmed a simple truth: workers deserve fair pay, strong protections, and the ability to provide for their families.

On Labor Day 1942, the U.S. government sent this telegram reminding the nation that American victory depended on American workers. More than 80 years later, that truth remains: without labor, nothing moves forward.
