I'm only 26 minutes in and there are so many scenes in The Dark Knight I thought were practical that were entirely CGI. Like I didn't know the Hong Kong jump or shots of the Batpod moving used CG. It's all so seamless.

Hey BBC, if your writers don't know how movies are made or why certain movies are successful then maybe just don't publish stories about the topic. (No, I will not link to the dumb piece.)

"This summer, practical effects have ruled:
Backrooms, Obsession - heck, even The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Michael [have limited digital trickery]. And now I'm seeing Christopher Nolan talking up The Odyssey's practical effects in the press. Compare that with Supergirl's reception, or audiences' distaste for the dismal, half-CGI Masters of the Universe. Either fully commit to computer animation, as in Toy Story 5 or Minions & Monsters, or go practical."

[READING A POST] Look at this incredible scene from this old movie. [CELEBRATING THE ART FORM NICE NICE] The lighting is so deliberate and the colors are in perfect harmony… [OH NO HERE IT COMES] …they just don’t make good movies anymore! [AWW YOU WERE DOING SO WELL AND THEN YOU FUCKED IT UP]

CGI set extensions are just modern matte paintings, human artists creating movie magic. Here's how they work, using Wicked as an example.
