Well, astrophysics is famous for having quite imprecise estimates, so 2M +/- a few orders of magnitude stands.

It's rare for physics simulations to be a) easy to use, and b) cover tons of topics. Make sure you've got Interactive Molecular Dynamics by Dan Schroeder in your back pocket. Bouncing particles, thermodynamics, friction, coeff of restitution -- to name a few topics! ⚛️🎢 buff.ly/3ML7OU8
A simulation of many tiny colored circles on a black background. At the moment the circles are smushed into a large mass that looks a bit like a continent. On the right hand side are various buttons and sliders to control the simulation. Things like slower, faster, presets, number of atoms, etc. Quite a complete set of controls shown.

I PERCEIVE SOMEONE MORE FORTUNATE THAN MOST IN THE MEANS OF MATERIAL RICHES AND FEEL ONLY PITY, FOR LIKELY THEY ARE TO BE THE SPONSORED OF ONE OF THE PREMIUM-PAYING PATRONS, AND ALL THE MORE OFTEN THEY ARE PROSTRATED ON A TABERNACLE DISPLAYED ON THEIR PERSON’S PROFILE INSTEAD OF BEING LEFT TO RIP

ME (THE WIZARD) AND MY PARTY CLAIM ALL THE ACCOLADES AND QUEEN’S GRATITUDE AFTER SLAYING THE OMINOUS EVIL EMPEROR BUT I ACCIDENTALLY EXPLODE HALF THE ROYAL PALACE AFTER GETTING SENSORY OVERLOADED FROM THE CHEERS OF THE COMMON FOLK. WHOOPSIES

At the edge of a relatively tiny galaxy 200,000 light-years away, NGC 602's environment is similar to that of our universe in its early stages. Thanks to the James Webb Telescope, we’re now able to view this celestial region in stunning detail. See more: www.thisiscolossal.com/2024/10/ngc-...
A star cluster is shown inside a large nebula of many-coloured gas and dust. The material forms dark ridges and peaks of gas and dust surrounding the cluster, lit on the inner side, while layers of diffuse, translucent clouds blanket over them. Around and within the gas, a huge number of distant galaxies can be seen, some quite large, as well as a few stars nearer to us which are very large and bright.detail of A star cluster is shown inside a large nebula of many-coloured gas and dust. IF MY LIFE WERE A DATING SIM I WOULD NOT BE THE MAIN CHARACTER. THE AMOUNT OF TIMES PEOPLE HAVE ATTEMPTED TO COURT ME IN OMINOUS WAYS WEIRDLY REMINISCENT OF SPEEDRUN STRATS IS ABOVE THE NUMBER 2 WHICH IS POSSIBLY A CAUSE FOR CONCERN

✨🔭 Research news! ✨🔭 A new study published in #MNRAS suggests the first picture of the supermassive black hole at the heart of our Milky Way galaxy may not be a true reflection of its appearance. ⚫ Want to find out why? Visit: buff.ly/3NCRFQW
The first ever image of Sagittarius A*, the supermassive black hole at the centre of the Milky Way.

This is a bright star Alpheratz, more formally Alpha Andromedae, in the constellation Andromeda. Nothing fancy. Just a single star. I was adjusting my little homemade diffraction spike creator and I thought this was pretty enough to share. #Astronomy #Astrophotography

A very nice animation! Could be very useful in a physics class, when introducing relative motion (since most pupils don't have any idea/experience about retrograde motion). 🔭🎢

I'm not a great fan of open star clusters, but yesterday I spent some time imaging h and chi Persei, and it was fun! Choosing that target was more of an accident, though. The sky was supposed to cloud over again quickly, so I didn't want to start with one of my other projects. Thread: 1/ 🧪🔭
Two open star clusters, one on top of the other.

This is a very short session with Pickering's Triangle. I was trying for 3 1/2 to 4 hours but ended up with only 2. Pickering's is part of the Veil Nebula, also known as the Cygnus Loop. It's between the Eastern and Western Veil. #Astronomy #Astrophotography
