Love the response from the producer though
The show's producer, Jimmy Mulville, subsequently blasted the unit's findings, telling industry website Deadline: 'The fact that two members of a 6 million audience took offence, which then triggered a year-long investigation by the BBC’s Executive Complaints Unit, whom we’ve never met and sounds like something out of Kafka, is a total waste of the licence fee and is another example of the BBC’s paranoia about causing offence. HIGNFY is set up to be comically and intentionally offensive. My own definition of a cunt is someone who spends all day looking for problems that don’t exist.

You do seem to be on the money with that... but they're asking for emails which I find odd for a programme you're meant to dip in and out of. Apparently they also showed Remix at the same time so you could watch last week's show instead if you wanted! I'm guessing on red button?

Blows my mind the voter turnout on these local elections. I of course have no solution to the problem, either. But surely something has to be done?

Paul McCartney on the lyrics to With a Little Help from My Friends. “It just doesn’t scan”.
“The line I liked best in it was, ‘What do you see when you turn out the light?’ I was imagining turning out the light when you’re in bed, under the covers. You’re talking about your genitals; that’s what it is. Everyone does that: touching themselves when the light goes out. But I couldn’t say, ‘What do you see when you turn out the light? Your dick.’ It just doesn’t scan.”

Is this an early example of phone hacking? An amusing story about the Points of View answering machine I found in a 1997 issue of 405 Alive magazine - www.bvws.org.uk/publications...
The BBC is investigating how a hoax message was left on the Points of View answering machine, outraging dozens of callers to the show.

The programme, hosted by Anne Robinson, allows BBC viewers and licence-fee payers to have their say on the BBC. But callers were told: "This is the BBC, and quite frankly we are sick to death of your points of view". The message was erased later in the day and replaced by noises of a cow mooing.

The BBC has apologised to viewers who called the Points of View programme's answering machine only to be told to "keep your views to yourself".

"Our view is you should keep your thoughts to yourself instead of pestering us and keeping busybody Anne Robinson in a job at the licence-payers' expense," the message said. The BBC is looking into the possibility that a hacker may have been able to access the system to alter the message.

After reading “Morning Glory”, a bit fascinated with the fate of Adrian Brown, TV-am’s replacement for Nick Owen who lasted 8 weeks. There seems to be no footage online of him on TV-am at all, either as newsreader or his stint on the sofa. Just this cutting from TV Times.
“The somewhat non-charismatic in-house junior newsreader, Adrian Brown, was initially touted as the next big thing. “It’s wonderful, and a great challenge for me,” he smiled, on learning that he had inherited Owen’s role. “I’m looking forward to it enormously. Nick is an excellent bloke and both he and Anne have been very helpful and kind while I have been finding my feet.” But the chemistry wasn’t there; nor was there much trace of a screen presence. Brown lasted only eight weeks before being humiliatingly demoted back to the news desk.”

The day the earth stood still. I still remember where I was when my wife called me to tell me the news, lan Lygo has been forced to retire from 100%. Thankfully the place I worked was understanding and gave us all the rest of the week off to be with our families. I doubt everyone had that opportunity, the idea people had to carry on as if nothing had happened, pulling pints or grooming horses or whatever is just frankly insane.
Honestly in some ways I think we as a nation never fully recovered.

Fifty years ago today, Radio 1 held a "Fun Day" at Mallory Park. This day was seared into the memory of John Peel. He recalled his experience for the Radio 1 Story documentary in 1997. If you have not seen this clip before, please watch to the very end. You will not be disappointed.
