I think Granada Good Life was just a channel riding on the back off This Morning without a budget. They thought they could compete with UK Living, but failed spectacularly. Even then UKL became less and less of a female skewed channel.

Of course aggressive marketing tactics were the biggest reason, but to get all existing Sky analogue customers to Digital within three years was pretty impressive. Even by the start of 2001 I believe most existing subscribers had already converted.

Just watched the series finale of Stuart Fails To Save The United, all I’m going to say it’s ridiculously meta, and I think it works. Glad it’ll be back for a second series. Even with the short episodes it definitely benefits being on HBO than on CBS.

For us pres nerds, my tram to the office took me past Media City this morning and Quay House does have the Reith logo outside it which animates between the Worker Bees and the B’s. It’s quite a nice touch. The Gill Sans logo is very much still there though.

Whilst it is welcome news in that regard, but a lot of this article is about a push towards YouTube. Certainly, it’s the way things are going, or least that’s the default setting for parents TV options for their pre-schoolers, but you’d think there’d be some mention of a linear showing.

Certainly makes you wonder whether 5 Star will now just become the defacto crap reality channel for Channel 5. Unimaginable even 5 years ago that they’d have enough UK made programming for a drama channel. I still think axing Neighbours has helped its growth in that sector.

A good idea in principle but the execution was horrendous. We had NTL Digital at the time and the Text button on the remote did not work, neither did the red button then. You had to press Interactive and then go in to the selected sections of Interactive rather than just BBC Text/BBCi as a whole.

Just had a look at help.itv.com out of curiosity and it’s really not very helpful. You’d like to think by now almost everyone would either know how to rescan their TV’s or their TV’s automatically update. We’re long past the days of manual rescans on cheap supermarket STB’s.

Noticed that Four Weddings and Funeral has been shown multiple times on the BBC in the last year or so. FWIW, ‘The Inbetweeners 3’ does have Film4 Productions involvement despite it being made straight for Netflix.
