Unfortunately what that means in terms of hydrogen aspirations is left without clear answer. Calling hydrogen ramp-up technology-neutral is quite a flex but then again replacing strict electrolyser targets (10 GW by 2030) with flexible, tells another story.

The 30 pages analysis about hydrogen in German Energy transition monitoring report is mostly indefinite and exploratory in nature, but some gems can be found. Seems that German government officials also acknowledge the difference between h2- capex visions and the reality. That's A+ for homework!

Have we reached the plateau of wind power generation cost decline in major European wind power markets? According to @irena-official.bsky.social the cost of wind LCOE came rapidly down until 2019 after which the average cost has not declined but increased 17% (2020-2024).

People loved the eUp when there was not something better. Now there is and we have the technology. My point is less about the price and more about the specs and battery especially. Add 15-20 kWh battery and 2-3k€ price and this thing will sell like cakes. They don’t want it to do so.

There’s absolutely no new product or pr concept launch that can divert from this direction that VW and many other OEMs are heading. Only committed actions matter. I was criticized 2 years ago when they launched ID2 for calling out their wishy washeness and here we are. That one is delayed too.

Long term storage need is least of our worries if we truely care about climate. We need fuels to store only for couple of weeks in the year (5-10% of demand). At first we can use fossil fuels, then biofuels and after 20-25 years we have more options than hydrogen.

Depends on the value of the biofuels. There’s huge amount of biofuels than can be first and foremost freed from road traffic. Then we have other options too. In reality, if you read any of that article hydrogen will never be cheap enough to scale for the demand.
