I finally got access to the Disc to Digital program yesterday. The only game I own I couldn’t get the license for was Armored Core VI. Bandai Namco and Square Enix, pls get with the program. It was very cool to download the PC version of Onimusha last night.

I can’t wait for October 15th for the physical version of Control Resonant. It’s difficult dodging people’s reactions and responses of which are no value to me. Alas, I’ll finish 007 First Light, then E-Day is next. Ace Combat 8 also got me curious. Fuck, video games, man.

If a game is signposting but it’s subtle and fits the aesthetic of the game, that isn’t “yellow paint”, that’s good environmental design. The “yellow paint” phenomenon is signposting that is zero effort i.e. why is there random splotches of yellow paint all over in this context? It’s different.

There’s one more leg of this restructure to take place. That’s worrisome. It’s all thanks to Game Pass. I think if they do all this restructuring without a similar overhaul of that product, it’s not going to matter in the long run. The bloat was too much, and now look where we are.

Halo being freed from the yoke of 343i/Halo Studios can only be a good thing I imagine. It was a team that seemed to fundamentally misunderstand the IP they were assigned to, three times, over the course of 14 years. Campaign Evolved was good but too slight to save them.

This shouldn’t be a hot take but Xbox should make online multiplayer free. Game Pass has so many tiers that I have to imagine the amount of people only paying to play online is a single digit percentage. If Project Helix is simply also a PC, you’re gonna have to contend with free online anyways.

Probably not gonna happen, but I would love for the Rockstar Games Industrial Complex to produce something that isn’t GTA after 6 ships. I miss Midnight Club dearly and I think a modern one could do quite well in a world where Forza Horizon is *the* main and only choice for AAA Arcade racing.
