the one I always remember is a lovely little old rectangular green French silver whittling knife. Try moving any of those to any other position in the sentence... #unwrittenrules #language

A handful of Belgian breweries wrap their bottles in paper, presumably originating from a desire to block out light. This is the Tripel from De Vranckaertshoeve. The wrapper is almost entirely in Flemish, except for le minimum légal en français and a handy motto in Latin! #beer #beersky

Yeah, I'll believe you. 'For medical use' indeed. #whiskey #adverts #medical #Victorian
A full colour advertisement for "Gilbert & Parsons' Hygienic Whiskey, For Medical Use". It has a foliate border and there is a tranquil rural scene below some guff about the whiskey's properties. It dates from 1866.

So, they were over in May 1969. A team of four horses and the dray for the Royal Ulster Show. I'd say as part of the visit they may have gone to a few pubs for promotional purposes, just taking 2 horses to make it more simple ...

While researching the old map I found this photo. Thwaites was at the time, I think, a reasonably large regional brewery in Blackburn so I'm a little surprised to see they were delivering #beer in Down. @beerfoodtravel.bsky.social any thoughts if this was usual or not? Source discovergroomsport.com

Was intrigued by the spelling of Groomsport as GromsPorte on Thomas Raven's 1625 #map of the village but the history is much stranger. The 1st recorded name was Anglo-Norman Mollerytoun (from O French), translated into Irish Port an Ghiolla Ghruama, then (badly..) anglicised. #cartography #etymology

Brouwerij Biermaekers are (for now at least) a cuckoo brewery. Their website says they brew at DECA though this bottle of their excellent Tripel says it was brewed at De Meester. Dikke Jan (Fat John) is modeled on Toby Fillpot of Toby Jug fame #beer #beersky

A little bottle that came back from Switzerland last year, an oak aged Grappa from Matasci Vini e Distillati. They don't give an age, I guess a couple of years at least based on the colour it has picked up. Nice intense, woody flavour

The digestive system as a tube map Original design by Jack Anderson www.radiologycafe.com/blog/digesti...
This infographic reimagines the human digestive system as a simplified subway map, using coloured lines to show how food and digestive secretions travel through the gastrointestinal tract. The red line traces the main path of food, beginning at the oesophagus, passing through the stomach, continuing into the duodenum and small intestine (represented here by the ileum), before reaching the caecum and then travelling through the colon to the sigmoid colon and rectum. Separate coloured branches represent organs that feed digestive juices into the system: the green line shows bile flowing from the liver via the gallbladder into the duodenum, while the yellow line shows digestive enzymes entering from the pancreas at the same location. The blue line outlines the large intestine (colon), which frames the small intestine before ending at the rectum. A short purple branch depicts the appendix extending from the caecum. By presenting the digestive tract as an interconnected transit network rather than an anatomical drawing, the graphic emphasizes the sequence of digestion and the convergence of food, bile and pancreatic enzymes in the duodenum while making the overall layout easier to understand.
