Truly does. In the process they also build trust with potentially traumatised patients. that is wonderful. I'm going to write to the practice about how much more accessible health care is to me because of this GP. I feel it is so important for them to hear how their attitudes can do so much.

He said "I'm not ruling out that they may be related to ongoing issues. But you need an ultrasound scan - because they may not be related." This dr is the first GP i have met who has taken my health seriously, actually chased me up on things, and genuinely seemed like he knows what he is doing.

about how they dont supply anything that will help me here. Just said i'd grab my own iron tablets from a supermarket, as it seemed he was hinting at me. I told him about issues i've had with my periods recently. He said they were down to stress. A relief to hear after I had buried my head (2/4)

My gp is amazing. I had blood tests recently. Another doctor called, not my usual. He said i'm mildly anaemic - my choice if I get supplements. Asked if my diet changed, I said we are temporarily reliant on foodbanks. "Ok. Just eat more veg and red meat." I didn't bother saying anything (1/4)

Thankfully, I have some privileges on my side. One being that I barely drink, because when I do I binge. I'm aware of how my family used alcohol as a coping mechanism & were systemically & societally blamed for their miserable existences. I'm triggered by this blame, so I mostly avoid drink.

He never had a chance of appealing, the system designed to make that too difficult for a disabled alcoholic. He died malnourished, 30yo. He begged them to help him. I used to think it was the tories (a victim of austerity.) Now I experience Labour actively pushing me into the same places.

I cleared out my brothers insect-infested room after he died in a squalid little bedsit. I discovered endless shopping lists, food he wished he could eat, & letters he scrawled in reply to the job centre's cold & callous letters where they had deemed him a liar and announced his benefits were gone.

I have had to claim UC again recently during a period of ill health. They've been monstrous to deal with. It has felt they have actively done anything they can to make applying as difficult as possible. Assuming I survive, I have a fire in belly and a lot of receipts. Fuck that system.
