thinking about auto-calibrating a mouse I want something that tells me to look at my cursor, close my eyes, listen to sound cue, move it a little bit, get another sound cue after a bit of waiting, and then be asked "is your mouse position currently where you imagined it would be?"

LRT it's even worse for journalism that focuses on discussing some form of art, like, say, games or movies because focusing on growth means only making the articles that gets most clicks, which means..... only writing about blockbusters in the medium🙃

The infinite growth model is one of the worst things to happen to journalism/media. At some point you reach the ceiling of people who want to read your magazine! You can just make enough money to pay people well and publish things and not grow forever!

From out of all of that, comes the two most natural reasons for a UBI. One, it would give employees the freedom to not accept a particular job. Two, it would give employers more employees who actually believe in what the company is trying to do instead of people who are just in it for the money.

a digital illustration of my own headcanoned human designs of mae and bea from the video game "night in the woods." mae, a chubby girl with a mullet holding a bat, holds hands with bea, a black goth girl, as they float in front of some taped-down notebook pages covered in doodles. on the pages above the characters, it says "bea bea & mae dae", while on the bottom it says "stuck together, don't suck together," in sketchy writing. based on the similar journal page you acquire after completing the proximity event from bea's route.

there are altogether too many quotable paragraphs in this must-read article but i think i can restrain myself to just this one

a screenshot from the linked aftermath article below (A Game Doesn't Need to be 'By and for Fans' by Harper Jay MacIntyre) that reads:

Characters don’t deserve anything, and I don’t think fans do either. The goal of a story cannot simply be to satiate the hunger of fanatics or to smooth out the ripples of a world. Even the most indulgent self-insert fan fiction arguably operates on higher goals than this; the writer crafts the silly tale in order to address something in their soul. You don’t write to fix a story; it ideally addresses something inside us. You don’t write because fictional characters need it. You write because you need it. You do it because there’s something in you that needs to be said.
