I mostly agree, but I feel like one part that people fail to mention is culture. If you pick a single dependency in rust its likely to have many transitive dependencies since dependency heavy code is the norm.

Everyone’s been on edge with supply chain attacks. A first party check for uploading crates is EXACTLY what I was hoping for. Good on the foundation and I can’t wait to see this rolled out. I’d love to see more strict auditing for especially popular crates #rust #rustlang

there is no such thing as "age verification." All "age verification" is actually "identity verification." You can coat it in glitter and "privacy-preserving" wrapping paper. But in the end, mandating age verification means mandating surveillance be built into software and hardware. Period.

Always insane to me that smaller companies like oxide can have a higher standard for rigor!

It is really unfortunate. I choose apple stuff because I run into the least paper cuts out of the other options but a company of that size and talent really should be better about these things. They definitely do innovative on cool things too so clearly they have the ability. Fingers crossed 🤞

Interesting, what else makes you think freebsd is a softer target? Is it mostly because it gets used less or is there something more architecturally wrong

I do think theres definitely an over reaction from people. experimentation should be encouraged! that being said I don’t know how I feel on such a large complex corpus of code being vibe rewritten. personally I wouldve liked to see a slower and more intentional mix of zig and rust.

Godot's GitHub has increasingly many pull requests generated by LLMs and it's a MASSIVE time waster for reviewers – especially if people don't disclose it. Changes often make no sense, descriptions are extremely verbose, users don't understand their own changes… It's a total shitshow. #godotengine
