A new paper came out this week from our lab in @devbiol.bsky.social. This was work I started as a post-doc with @kevinmawright.bsky.social. Here, we investigated the role of Gbx2 and Robo receptors in dendrite stratification of amacrine cells in the retina. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Seth Lammert, Vikki Weake @vikkiweake.bsky.social and colleagues find that increased Glycine-N-methyltransferase expression disrupts light-dependent gene expression rhythms in the Drosophila eye. Highlight: journals.biologists.com/jcs/article/... Article: journals.biologists.com/jcs/article/...
Figure showing that eye-specific overexpression Gnmt decreases repressive but not active histone methylation in photoreceptors.

I'm excited to share a new paper from our lab showing how redox regulation of Ahcy, an enzyme involved in one-carbon metabolism allows rapid gene expression changes to protect Drosophila photoreceptors against retinal degeneration caused by light stress. doi.org/10.1073/pnas...
