Survived the maiden voyage across state lines last weekend with no issues. Insulated the cabin floors and that seems to have really helped the issue of the floor cooking up to 200° thanks to the cat right below me

His best movie by miles is PRISONERS. The tension works wonders in that film and it might be the one film of his where his style matches that of the story and environment of the film. Close to that is ARRIVAL but even that one suffers from his usual flaws

The ending of ENEMY could be used as an allegory for his entire catalog. "Look at this weird thing that happens!" But it's bland, lifeless, it feels unearned and empty. This is how I felt about DUNE and this is how I felt upon revisiting 2049

His worst by FAR is ENEMY (2013). What a horrifically boring film, anything interesting that could happen he chooses to do in the most uninteresting way possible. This is a theme in all his work.

So I explored more of his filmography and I hate everything he's done. Even DUNE. BORING! He's a boring filmmaker. He lacks style. His movies are all high concept without the quality of execution. There is no value in his direction.

I liked it a lot when I came out! A couple years ago I watched both back to back and WOW. Bad! Just so much life from the 80s one sucked out of it for 2049. So much of what made the first so moody and original gone.
